Lesson to tell here. I used to do some work for a very large meat products producer. I was asked to assist on a project to resolve problems with metal showing up in their deli meats slicing production lines. When the metal hits the blade it frequently shatters the blade. The whole room and line shuts down and must be cleaned, sanitized, and inspected by USDA inspectors before resuming production (12 hours).

We installed multi-point metal detection and separation in points of production. It turned out to be beef and pork with large birdshot which was inside the muscle but healed over with an abscess formed around the metal shot. When it occurred it was constant.

It turns out animal rights activists shoot the steers when they are in feed lots or on pasture. The wounds go mostly unnoticed and heal over. They do this to sabotage the meat processing facilities in lost production, waste, and product liability. It was costing the company millions a month.

I suspect the same approach here. The groups sabotaging sub stations, switch yards, and transmission lines are the climate justice groups. Replacing sub station transformers meant to last 75 years in any number will create expensive chaos for utility companies.

I agree that #1 is the most likely. Some of these people protesting global warming have been committing vandalism and assaulting people.
