A tough, voter-approved gun control law in Oregon sees high-capacity magazines prohibited from being sold and transferred. New gun buyers must also obtain permits, criminal background checks, fingerprints, and go through training courses.
A number of lawsuits have been filed challenging the measure, which was narrowly approved by voters last month. The outcome of this measure is being carefully watched. It is one of the first sweeping gun restrictions since the New York law limiting gun ownership outside the home was struck down by the Supreme Court in June.
An earlier decision blocking Thursday’s implementation of the law remains temporarily in effect after the Oregon Supreme Court declined to reverse the earlier ruling.
On Wednesday evening, Chief Justice Martha Walters denied state Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum’s emergency motion to intervene.
Despite a ruling in favor of the law from a federal judge, Harney County Judge Robert Raschio blocked the law on Tuesday. According to an urgent filing from the Oregon Department of Justice, Raschio’s claim is incorrect.
“Magazine capacity restrictions and permitting requirements have a proven track record: they save lives!” a furious AG Rosenblum stated. “We are confident the Oregon Constitution — like the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution — allows these reasonable regulations.”

Correct! It is definitely a de facto ban on new gun purchases, because there is no way to give people instruction from certified law enforcement. The police here don’t have the resources to do their job as it already is. Guaranteed this will be on the very bottom of their list of priorities, except in the rural counties that have decent sheriffs.
SCOTUS will overturn it, no doubt about it. This part of the article:
“A number of lawsuits have been filed challenging the measure, which was narrowly approved by voters last month.”
Oregon all mail in voting = elections are stolen here every two years.
You live in Oregon? I never heard of in person voting. Where do you even go?
I’ve lived here for decades and since late 1990s all mail it. Elections here are as rotten as CA.
And it wouldn’t matter if they did. That’s an intentional misrepresentation of the Gruen test.
Despite what Scalia said the 2nd Amendment allows no restrictions. I guess "Shall not be infringed" only means what some judge decides it means and that Is the way it Is today.
Shucks they don't try to prevent it they just prosecute you when you use it.
Yeah and I bet you think you know what Is means.
Another lie that liberals believe that if the say it often enough that the sheeple will believe it.
It is satire....but for how long? They have said before that the Constitution only guarantees that we can own muzzle loaders. The original one bullet limit.
If we want to live as free men, we must be willing to die as free men if it comes to that.
We are fooling ourselves if we think a dozen pro 2A SCOTUS rulings will get these fascists to give up.
Yes I do live in Oregon. I read it in the voters guide. I believe you have to go to the county elections office. You’re basically filling out your mail in ballot and dropping it off. I don’t think they have machines.
I cannot find by searching at the moment, but during the 2020 elections, states using Dominion and Smartmatic, the two most used voting “systems” used in the US, listed. Oregon, iirc, uses Smartmatic to tablulate ballots. I will find more info later and post.
Oregon has rotten elections, no doubt about it.
I meant machines like the old days, where you went in a booth and punched a card or selected on screen choices.
So, with a binary trigger and duplex ammo you get 4 slugs down range with one trigger pull?
Take my money!
Aha, the old days. When the cheating was simple and basic like paying people to vote for someone.
The aggravation of having to do so. TN 4 blue counties want to disenfranchise anyone entering their counties. Since we are PERMITLESS NO PERMIT NEEDED, JUST OBEY THE OLD PERMIT LAWS. I’ve had a permit since 1997 and went for a lifetime when that came out. Only permit holders would be allowed and criminals, VERY SOFT ON CRIME, LOTS OF young KIDS BEING KILLED. 30% serve time rate. Cashless bail. Then Memphis wonders why they can’t keep cops, or people are moving out.
Dummy’s still voted D. We moved to the next Conservative county, still not far enough away.
There are no blue states. There are *some* blue cities.
