A tough, voter-approved gun control law in Oregon sees high-capacity magazines prohibited from being sold and transferred. New gun buyers must also obtain permits, criminal background checks, fingerprints, and go through training courses.
A number of lawsuits have been filed challenging the measure, which was narrowly approved by voters last month. The outcome of this measure is being carefully watched. It is one of the first sweeping gun restrictions since the New York law limiting gun ownership outside the home was struck down by the Supreme Court in June.
An earlier decision blocking Thursday’s implementation of the law remains temporarily in effect after the Oregon Supreme Court declined to reverse the earlier ruling.
On Wednesday evening, Chief Justice Martha Walters denied state Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum’s emergency motion to intervene.
Despite a ruling in favor of the law from a federal judge, Harney County Judge Robert Raschio blocked the law on Tuesday. According to an urgent filing from the Oregon Department of Justice, Raschio’s claim is incorrect.
“Magazine capacity restrictions and permitting requirements have a proven track record: they save lives!” a furious AG Rosenblum stated. “We are confident the Oregon Constitution — like the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution — allows these reasonable regulations.”

“A duplex cartridge is one where there are two bullets. It was made under the theory that the two rounds will have paths that slightly diverge as the fly and increase the chances that one will hit the target. And if they both hit, they create two wounds instead of one.”

Let’s see what taste that leaves in their mouth.

Quail Hunting would be tough with slugs, but adapt, improvise, overcome as Clint once said.
>>For handgun and rifle ammo, no problem, as it doesn’t change anything.<<
A number of producers make multi-bullet cartridges.
Some are buckshot—some are (5) disks—some, like IMI, are two lead cylinders capped with a 95g lead bullet.
Heads exploding in background.
One brand that makes such is Double Tap. Test have shown that at anything more than close range the two parts diverge more than is desirable.
The only lives it saves are the criminals, as, people, are not able to defend themselves.
You expect a depraved mind to think truthfully and rationally? LOL, th AG is exposing her irrationality and flat out falsely asserting things the 2A does not give her the authority to do. She is a depraved mind on parade.
There’s a difference between bullets and shot. Only slugs would be affected by HR 1, and it should be spelled out in HR 1 as “bullets and shotgun slugs”.
I can only think of two “mass shootings” in Oregon. Both on college campuses done by the usual mentally ill young man. The rest of Oregon gun crime is in one diverse neighborhood near the corner of MLK BLVD and Cesar Chavez Blvd. Now that the law is blocked can we expect to see an explosion of mass shootings? If nothing changes, then what do the libs say?
Those homeless drug addicts in Portland, Salem, and Eugene can always be counted on to tilt the vote.
Democrats only like courts legislating from the bench when it supports the Left’s agenda.
Size of the magazine has nothing to do with saving any lives. One well-placed shot can end any life. But number of bullets in a cartridge, now that’s a game changer;D
Magazine capacity restrictions and permitting requirements have a proven track record: they save lives!
1. Has the AG been challenged to present the research behind that statement?
2. If I’m not mistaken, this law had very little to do with magazines. But was more about the ridiculous requirements about getting training from state government approved instructors, instructors had to be a graduate of a law enforcement academy, all while none of those things were available to the citizens. De Facto banning of guns since the government didn’t put into place a mechanism for the people of Oregon to abide by the law.
While not knowing everything about the law, it would have been awesome if the Conservative Sheriff’s on the eastern side of the state started giving classes. Make the people shoot to the same standard as the cops. Be real hard to go after someone for not knowing what they’re doing if they met the same standards that all the cops have to.
Yes, those paragons of civic duty do seem to lean left.
