Attributing the decision to wanting to spend more time with his family
Thats the oldest excuse in the book.

FBI agents respond to duties handed to them from above, including the head of the FBI and the head of the DOJ and the president, and the congressional leaders in the house and senate.
All of the high-end government officials are responsible for the corruption that has been ongoing for more than a decade now, and it’s time to get at them.

Government employees should not be able to retire to avoid answering questions regarding their actions while still employed and paid by the tax-payers.

I’m not sure what they’re afraid of. Ultimately, even if there are any criminal charges, a D.C. rat jury would never find them guilty.

News of D’Antuono’s retirement comes just weeks after Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee named him as one of nine FBI employees they would “require prompt testimony” from as they seek to investigate potential political bias at the bureau. Well, if he's like the other compromised thugs in the FBI he would answer the first three hundred questions with "I don't remember".... Isn't that what Comey did?

I was thinking something similar. After the pussies, I mean Republicans, investigate. They will send their findings to the Department of Justice.
Is it necessary to comment on the absurdity of that course?

Congressional Republicans will be howling at the moon—the good news is they will enjoy themselves....obviously in the real world it means nothing.

All he has to do is deny, deny, deny, deny..then after a period of time, switch to “why are you talking about this, it’s old news and distracting from todays issues”...
Then issue orders to the media to drop the story, and bingo, home free...
Anyone scared of a Republican investigation is a wuss..

Thats the oldest excuse in the book.
Every time a crooked govt. official or politician knows they're going to be investigated, they use this same old tired cliche'. And everyone knows they're FOS.

Note that the clickbait headline is much different than the first words of the opening sentence (emphasis added):
"Top FBI Official Steps Down ..."
"A top FBI official has stepped down ..."
