Walmart CEO Doug McMillon admitted that theft has become a major issue for the chain..

he said that woke district attorneys' policies need to be 'corrected' or the company will be forced to raise prices or shut stores..

McMillon did not specify which locations have experienced the record-high level of shoplifting, but stores in LA have had to lock up most of their inventory..

Robberies there are up over 10%; critics blame DA George Gascon's policies..

...

Target, also revealed that shoplifting at its stores had jumped more than 50 percent year on year, leading to more than $400 million in losses in 2022 alone.

...

Forbes has previously estimated that the chain loses about $3 billion a year due to thefts.

...

the woke District Attorneys in major American cities that are no longer prosecuting shoplifters.

...

Angeles Times found .. Walmarts they visited .. have now partitioned off a portion of their pharmacies where high-price health and beauty products are sold.

Now, if a shopper wants to buy expensive makeup or shampoos, they must enter the partitioned area and pay a cashier before leaving through a narrow exit back to the store.

Men's underwear was also locked up

..

The city has seen robberies skyrocket 10.7 percent over last year, according to Los Angeles Police Department statistics, with burglaries up nearly 13 percent and motor vehicle thefts up 8.1 percent.

Personal thefts are also up nearly 14 percent, contributing to a 7.4 increase in overall crime across the California city.

At the same time, though, robbery arrests are only up 2.7 percent — while burglary arrests are actually down 4.9 percent and motor vehicle theft arrests are down 8.2 percent from last year.

Critics have blamed woke District Attorney George Gascon for this rise in crime.

Some Walmart’s have security guards patrolling and others don’t that is your guidepost as to which stores may end up closing.

It’s partly WalMart’s own faule.

The signs at their self-checkout stations say “Scan and Go”; whereas “Scan, PAY and Go” would be much more instructive.

(At least for those who know how to read)

They can post a person all they want, most people allow them to check. Criminals will just say NOPE! And walk on by.

I don’t get it. If they POST a worker at the exit that checks the receipt...
There was a recent news article on an elderly Walmart employee trying to stop a thief. He was shoved to the floor and I'm guessing he cracked his head. He later died.

These criminals are violent and dangerous. Would you try to stop someone half your age and twice your size??

This incident may have happened in a Home Depot. Same difference, the employee was killed attempting to intervene.

Crazy CA passed Prop 47 back in 2014
Any theft $950 or below just a misdemeanor..
Shoplifting started skyrocketing after that law passed.
Target, Walmart etc..won’t even bother to call the police anymore if small items stolen..our local Target sometimes has a “security” guy at the door. Unarmed & always very young..the last one I saw looked about 12 years old & I was thinking, thieves probably laugh when they see a kid as a security guard.

Businesses operate so that only ones that actually pay for merchandise is the middle-class.

The government operates so that the only ones who pay taxes is the middle class.

Utility companies operate so that the only ones who actually pay for services is the middle class.

Insurance companies and hospitals operate so that the only ones who pay for health care is the middle class.

Guess who is rapidly running out of money?

Considering a Walmart Manager killed several people in his own store last week, I would think that the solution is to have armed guards/off duty police at all stores and at all times.

Can’t say I don’t blame them if they do. With all these grab and run thefts happening without accountability by the justice system then businesses are left to do whatever they need to to remain in business.

Don’t be fooled. Sam never paid a living wage when he was alive.
He gutted small town America.
He was not the good old country boy that made it big.
His wife’s family bank rolled him. Father-in-law was wealth rancher and lawyer around Claremore, OK.

Both Walmart and Target cater to the those benefiting from taxpayer funded programs such as welfare, EBT, TWIC, etc.

Both Walmart and Target spit in the face of those same taxpayers by supporting anti-American, woke, and Communist goals and organizations.

Walmart and Target aren't bothered that theft at their stores is increasing; they're bothered they can't get productive people to continue subsidizing the losses.

We visited relatives in Russia years ago ... at one of the old Soviet style stores, you went in past security, met clerk at counter, told him or her what you’d like and how much ... they’d weigh it out for you, give you a ticket to take up front and take your order up to the cashier.

You didn’t touch your stuff until it was actually paid for. So instead of walking in and doing self-check out or a five-finger discount you had to deal with at least 3 people in the store.

We might get to that point but don’t know where we’d hire all the people.
