Listen to this article 0:00 / 4:18 1X BeyondWords Now that the U.S. Senate run-off in Georgia between Herschel Walker and Sen. Raphael Warnock is behind us, the final results of the 2022 midterm elections are in. This is an opportune moment to examine what happened at the polls and what we can expect from the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives in the 118th Congress starting in January 2023.
With incumbent Raphael Warnock’s victory, Democrats will return to Washington with a 51 to 49 majority in the U.S. Senate. Although Senate Democrats only managed a net pick-up of one seat this election cycle despite an extremely favorable map, that lone seat carries with it great significance. Recall that for two years left-wing talking heads and so-called experts were predicting the Democrats could win Senate races in Wisconsin, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, and even Utah. In the end, only John Fetterman in the Keystone State succeeding in flipping one of these coveted seats.
But with Senator-elect Fetterman’s 51st vote, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democrats will now be able to approve President Biden’s left-wing judicial nominees with greater ease and can launch oversight investigations and issue subpoenas as they see fit.

Republicans should push for “vote-by-text” to really capture the Gen Z voting block .
I support “vote by twitter poll” personally
Manchin was often in position to call some shots. No longer, unless....
Manchin enjoyed his power position and wants to regain it, flipping to Republican, making it 50-50 again, stopping much committee shenanigans. That doesn’t solve the problem with Synema now elevated to the power spot, who sometimes halts the D idiocy and sides with Rs.
Nonetheless, we’re scraping the bottom of the barrel to find something, anything positive about the state of affairs.
You hit the nail on the head. I knew we were doomed in 2020 when universal mail in balloting was implemented. All the polls of registered voters showed Biden winning and in a normal election a lot of those registered voters would not have bothered to cast a ballot. In 2020 it was harder not to vote and even those who were totally uninformed and disconnected received a ballot that they just had to throw back in the mailbox. It was the first truly “registered voter” as opposed to “likely voter” election we have had.
The large number of people who normally would not have bothered to vote but did so via mail in 2020 have put us where we are today.
The Senate Repukes haven’t opposed the Rats on anything. It’s fun to blame Biden for everything but the truth is he’s had complete control of the Senate eventhough the Repukes had just as many Senators. It’s not on Biden It’s on the Repukes in the Senate. Trump on multiple occasions expressed the need to oppose the Rats but the Repukes think that by supporting Biden and his agenda they are showing Trump that he doesn’t control the party. Then when they lose because they refused to listen they say, you control the party this is your fault. It’s a fact they are willing to destroy the country (and they have) to show Trump who’s boss. None of this is on Trump.
If the Republican geldings can’t even stand up against Mitch, they’re not going to stand up against the Demonicrats.
It won’t be a spanking that they’ll receive when they bend over. It will be consensual penetration. That’s the way I look at it. Thanks, Mitch!
“The country is in shambles and the GOP can’t win a senate seat in a southern state.”
I find this to be incredibly suspicious. We haven’t won anything in decades, other than Trump. Then we saw what happened. The entire FedGov and world exploded on the guy. For absolutely no observable reason.
Further, when no solid reasoning could be found, the FedGov simply made stuff up and went after him.
It is inconceivable to conclude we the people are in charge of anything.
The only thing left to do is figure out what to do about it. Oh, we’re not allowed to contemplate that. Which should tell us everything.
Which is what I was implying without saying it..
Does anyone think that maybe, just maybe, Manchin and/or Sinema (preferably both) might turn and just go Independent?
Nothing will stop Biden judges.
A guy above asserts Georgia voting is pretty clean, and there is at least some reason to nod at that since a GOP candidate defeated a hardcore black woman opponent.
It all comes down to . . . people who were not voting in the past and suddenly do vote now because of the ease of it . . . are mostly Democrats.
And the Constitution does not say that people who did not vote in the past cannot vote now.
The Dems found a way to mine a previously unmined vein of ore. Trump did, too, in 2016. He found the resonance of Drain The Swamp and Build The Wall.
The GOP has to accept that this must be the foundational policies of the party or that vein Trump mined will not vote or vote Dem, as they were before Trump. Michigan and Wisconsin voters who voted Trump had been substantially Obama voters. They wanted the Swamp Drained.
The GOPe does not. So Trump voters will not vote.
Mitch wanted to hurt MAGA.
Mitch wanted to hurt AMERICA.
Depends on what the DNC has on them to keep them on the plantation
Horsecrap. The ONLY reason the dems went this far to steal another election is to stack the SCOTUS, legalize election fraud, and disarm the citizenry. They are very well aware conservatives cannot return to power because of what is at stake with all the laws that were broken.
We are still playing checkers.
YES!!!
Gridlock
You got that right.
<><>We are now reaping the inevitable results of power-mongering and fraud to hang onto it,
<><>by pols who have never created anything,
<><>pols who have no character or principles except to further their own careers,
<><>pols whose only “talents” reside in the ability to make speeches
<><>pols attempting to deceive and mollify their constituents,
<><>pols increasingly bold in destroying the very things they were elected to protect.

In all of my adult life, when Dems are in charge, the Republicans lose their collective spines. When Republicans are in charge, the Dems continue to act as if they're in charge and the Republicans let them, and cave. There are many Republicans that act as Democrats, but there are no Democrats that ever act as Republicans.
Why is it that when the Republicans have a majority in the Senate, they can’t get anything done without getting 60 votes, whereas the Democrats only need 51 (or 50 when the VP is a Democrat)?
Amen.
I believe, that, the people that had their votes bought by Bolshekrats, will wake up to find they have no economy and country.
