Of course I don’t know the details of the contract but in addition to the loser strikers, there were apparently some of the union janitorial contract workers who were “laid Off” in the earlier massive lay off that precipitated the strike.
We can assume that the contract provided for reduction and or increase in the required janitorial staffing so the earlier lay off was contractually permitted.
We can assume that by refusing to work, the contract was violated and then terminated. The janitorial company can now sue to have the contract reinstated for any one of many lawyerly reasons.
The problem then becomes money. Who has the most money to pay lawyers while the matter is litigted perhaps infinitely?
This raises the larger question of non union Tesla and the rocket company. It is now Musk et al against all the American unions and the DNC and the Biden administration.
Twitter is trivial compared to the other Musk nonunion companies.

If you are employed by a company with a contract with Twitter, then Twitter isn’t firing you. The cleaning company fired you. Go protest them.

IF Musk cleaned out a large number of employees-—there wouldn’t be as much need for the larger janitorial staff, either.
The SEIU started out as a “Janitors’ union & has grown totally out of proportion.
I’ll bet that Musk can find a dozen HIGH SCHOOL KIDS who would be DELIGHTED to clean the building for him. They ger future referral experience, also.
MUSK WILL CREATE HIS OWN JANITORIAL COMPANY-—and make more $$$ cleaning his building & others.:)
Musk used an outside company-—The layoff are against THAT entity.

These ‘janitors’ are NOT direct employees of Musk.
They work for a CLEANING COMPANY that Musk engaged.
No different than changing caterers for a big party.
The cleaning company can re-assign them to other locations—or lay them off. NOT MUSK’S control to lay them off.
MUSK has every right to hire whatever outside cleaning company he wishes.
The lack of intelligence on the part of the angry janitors & the writer of this article is appalling..
I do understand the low IQ of a janitor-—but this is a joke of a writer.

It’s still hard to find someone to do the work.
And reread my post. I have a good skillset and sgrew weary of sitting at a desk for 22 years. We’re not all low IQ.
Most of the custodians I’ve worked with dropped out of school and have no real upward potential, other than being a head custodian. But I’ve known retired teachers who went on to be come custodians.
It’s a good job when you don’t really want the stress of a high paying job anymore, but need a regular check with an insurance plan.
I take a lot of pride in my work.
