So he’s against Unions and for them at the same time. But....what about the workers?? Who the hell doesn’t have sick leave??
Contract enforcement is one of the few roles of the government.
No Contract for America?
I don’t have sick leave. I get a determined set of paid days off, so do my friends that work for BNSF, granted their days off can be a little more cumbersome to claim short notice.
From what I gather, sick leave is not the big ticket issue.
“Who the hell doesn’t have sick leave??”
Railroad workers.
Unbelievable that Rand Paul can’t figure out which side has a valid argument in this threatened strike.
He’s right all the way around.
Yes, but that's not what happened here. What happened here was forcing someone into a contract.
Sure, but no one is objecting to that. Does not that prior rail law give feds power to do that? Seems like said law should have been challenged years ago.
Paul is objecting to it, and arguing that the power shouldn’t exist in the first place.
I remember Regan told Aircraft controllers that they could not strike.
I’m guessing there’s a reason why...sounds simple enough but I presume sick leave is abused and I bet trying to run a train crew’s schedule with unpredictable call outs is not good for business.
Don’t worry the presidential emergency board is up first. Whatever unelected, unaccountable group that is.
Yeah, this might be one of those situations. The General Welfare of the people. How bad will thinks get if the trains stop? Coal for power plants is delivered by train for one thing.
Thus wasn’t about sick leave.
Sick leave was the cover for the pay hike, which means a pension hike, freezes on healthcare deductibles and co-pays, and possibly on premiums as well.
If the deal becomes public, there will be hell to pay.
Especially when salaries are down or stagnant, and health insurance is through the roof.
BTW, this deal will bump the average salary to over $100 k.
I saw that.
SSDDS across The Pond.
That’s not a coinkydink.
It’s the result of Deep States acting in concert.
Folks in the UK need to recognize that they have the same problem we do.
But they don’t have a Trump standing between them and their Deep State.
