Disney is set to close its iconic attraction Splash Mountain on January 23, 2023, due to accusations that it promotes “racial stereotypes.”

Pressure groups got up a petition in 2019 to close the ride: 21,000 signatures.
In contrast, a petition calling for the ride to remain unchanged reached 93,000 signatures.

Maybe they can go on and replace the small world diorama with Ferguson getting wrecked by looters and rioters?
WE are watching Disney go down the path of slow demise at great expense of changing things.

Political correctness is a strong force in our culture.
Political correctness trumps all other considerations, with the powers that be at Disney.
If Uncle Remus had told stories about transgender kids, instead of about B’rer Rabbit, maybe Disney would have been happy with that.
Heck, they could do a remake of the original “Song of the South”, and have the Uncle Remus character tell inclusive stories about trans and drag queens and such.
To be replaced with Drag Queen Kiddie Kastle.

So the new ride is to be called ‘The Princess and the Frog’.
Princess? That name is obviously gender-biased. Just how insensitive is that! What was Disney thinking!
But of course everything can be labeled hurtful and insensitive if that’s what you’re looking for. So I suggest that Disney drop names entirely, and just number their rides.
“Wow. I really enjoyed ride #15. Let’s go on ride #6 now.”
Not only that, the price to get in has become exorbitant.
I’m seeing a one-day price in December of $179.

I live locally and haven’t been in over 20 years and we used to go at least once a year. When out of town relatives visit, we give them directions to the park and send them on their way.

Disney “Zipidy doo dah’d” the movie “Song of the South” completely off the map. Good luck trying to find a copy of it because Disney thinks it’s racist.
Think of how much other entertainment you can buy for $179.
I watched Song of the South when I was a child.
I remember feeling fond of Uncle Remus.
Is the ultimate purpose of the removal of this movie and ride to remove the fondness of young white children for a wise old black man?
