Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said Saturday that the outage was being investigated as a "criminal occurrence." The vandalism appeared to be intentional, but the motive is unknown at this time.
A massive power outage is being reported in Moore County.
A Duke Energy outage map Saturday evening showed 37,998 customers without power in Moore County; The Randolph Electric Membership Corporation also reported nearly 3,000 customers without power in the southern part of the county. As of Sunday at 8 a.m. 38,890 people are without power, according to a Duke Energy outage map. WRAL viewers began calling in to report outages around 8 p.m. Saturday. The outages for Duke remain unchanged, and power isn't expected to be restored until 10 p.m. Sunday.
Jeff Brooks with Duke Energy said crews are experiencing "multiple equipment failures" that are affecting substations in Moore County.
"We are actively investigating signs of potential vandalism related to the outages," Brooks said.

It amazed me al queda didn’t do more of this. Or hasn’t done more like this.
Or a disgruntled employee (or employees) with an axe to grind against the company?

Power still out for these people. Estimate for power restoration is 10pm tonight. And it’s definitely cold today in NC.
“She knew in her heart.”
I don’t doubt that. God does have His ways of making things happen. She was strong in her statement and probably knew she would be approached by law enforcement...as they should’ve done.
Also, I might point out, Moore County is a majority Trump county, and the Sheriff, a Republican. Still, there is a sickness in Moore County that should be excised...and she seems to be in the cutting edge
Probably.
Could be.
Already pointed out (see #7).
Try to keep up, will ya?
Most substations have cameras now. I think there’s money via DHS for security purposes.
“Yeah, because nobody ever has to stop to recharge just because they need to.”
I added detail missing from your post.
“Yeah, because nobody ever has to stop to recharge just because they need to.”
"I added detail missing from your post."
WTF does that even mean?
You're still having trouble keeping up, I see.
“I added detail missing from your post.”
WTF does that even mean?
It means I added detail missing from your post.
Did you even read what you posted to me? Didn’t contain anything I’d even posted. Pretty sure it wasn’t even from this thread. Out was not even relevant...added detail or not.
I’ll just accept your admission that you’re lost.
Bye...
We had a windstorm drop a tree onto the power station last Thursday in NH. . 3700 without power for a day. Thank goodness we had a generator. Blew both transformers.
“Intentional vandalism” ... as contrasted with “unintentional vandalism” (i.e., vandalism that occurs by accident, I suppose).
Over on Gab it was clear that the military base was sponsoring a child grooming event in their town, so the men went hunting. Lot of game near those substations, musta done some damage because the event was called off when the power went out.
We used to have a peaceful, safe country before it turned into Idiocracy.
“Blew both transformers.”
You can hear those suckers when they go, too. I always wait for the lights to go out.
5 people with enough intent could knock out much of the grid fairly easy. And 10 more with Bic lighters could burn down entire states.
There is a lot of talk about power outages this winter. Could well be someone trying to jump start it.
You can hear those suckers when they go, too
We had a transformer in our yard at our old house. One night a raccoon got up there and made contact with something blowing it out. The yard lit up like a Christmas tree and it sounded like a bomb went off. The power company came out and peeled the racoon off the casing. The city of Claremont was without power for about an hour.
