Listen very closely to what the 5 PUBLIC holdouts are saying. This isn’t necessarily about waiting for a polarizing MAGA GOP personality that the Republicans won’t agree on. It might be more about a floor fight about the fact that McCarthy can’t reach 218 and a compromise candidate that they ALL agree may step up in the end.

I want someone to be Speaker of the House who is to the right of Attila the Hun and who can redefine the term “ruthless.”

I fondly remember the reply by Conan the Barbarian when asked, “What is best in life?”

“To crush your enemies. See them driven before you. And to hear the lamentations of their women.”

If McCarthy becomes Speaker, he’ll have MTG on his ass 24-7 every time he tries to go RINO.

The way that the Congress game is played is that there are only two teams,, virtually. And once there in the tug of war that is the grind of the day, ultimately one has to decide Which side you are pulling for.

The pushing has to happen in elections.

The Trump family’s support of McCarthy is problematic. Perhaps it allows them to appeal to establishment Republicans when McCarthy gets dumped after the Speaker vote. Appeasing the RINOs is a failed strategy.

“Listen very closely to what the 5 PUBLIC holdouts are saying. “

We have gotten McCarthy to agree to revising important house rules.

Good leaders spot, attract and support good people. Poor leaders don’t. It’s a pretty simple indicator that a lot of people tend to ignore amid all the hoopla. .

“Trump’s support of a bonafide RINO is a mistake.”

Three words:

Christopher Wray...

McCarthy may eventually be named Speaker, however I fully support Gaetz et al not rubber stamping him already.

The question is, who will McCarthy now partner with to get the final votes he needs? Gaetz and hard right conservatives, or Jeffries?

The fact that question is even being asked shows why McCarthy shouldn’t be rubber stamped. Make him show his true colors.

We have gotten McCarthy to agree to revising important house rules.

This might be more about McCarthy than it is about the rules.

I do remember when Trump got into it over some voted on issue which I don’t remember what it was with Massie, whom is a pretty good guy as far as I can tell, and later back pedaled after realizing that. He must have a reason to want McCarthy—likely wants to avoid infighting???

Heard McCarthy went to WH and got Biden to drop vaccine mandates for military. First thought was did he tell Joe that he won’t bring up Hunters laptop of he would drop the mandates?

“This might be more about McCarthy than it is about the rules.”

It is about McCarthy giving due consideration to the more conservative caucus.

I agree. But the problem is that there are only five votes against McCarthy, partially because Trump supported McCarthy and this stopped the dump McCarthy movement dead in its tracks.

Without those 5 votes, the GOP can’t even get McCarthy in and the next speaker may be a Dem or Liz Cheney.

I tell people here all the time that it’s a numbers game, and when they are being too pure to vote GOP - say, if their candidate, who is the one they should have worked for, has lost in the primary to an establishment hack - they are shooting themseleves in the foot.

Unless we have the numbers, we have nothing and no room for error.

If he did, that would be a stupid trade-off. Maybe slow-walk the investigation, which is what Boehner did through Trey Gowdy with Benghazi. But who knows?
