The number of firearms in private hands has been rising for at least 75 years. During the last 25 years, the number of murders, murders with guns, and violent crimes with guns dropped sharply, then leveled. It has risen a fraction of the drop in the last three years.

True. Also … fun fact …. Most liberals citing guns death data are not aware the numbers they quote include suicides which make up about 60% of all gun deaths.
Humans are amazingly resourceful and creative creatures.
One could take the clot shot for instance. Or utter "All Lives Matter" in an urban setting.

It would be nice to know how per capita gun ownership is defined:
Guns in proportion to total population; total legal population; total population over a certain age (18 or 21); total population of legally eligible gun owners?

There are likely many contributory factors, from better gun mechanics to the NRA pushing gun safety, to better medical treatment.
The chart starts in 1933. Early data is sparse. The latest year on the chart is 2017.
About two months ago my daughter-in-law of 28 years wanted my son to buy her one of those light weight “hammerless” .38s to carry in her purse, she had never owned a gun before and she wanted her dad to take her to the range with him and teach her how to shoot.
My son was going to buy it for her when I reminded him that his late mom had one that I would give to her. She was happy about it and it saved them some cash.
She did go to the range two or three times but about two weeks ago she committed suicide with it. She had spent several years living with severe back pain and finally had enough.

Yet gun suicides are counted among “gun deaths” in this country.
