NEWS: John Thune, the No. 2 Senate GOP leader, says in interview Senate Repubs want to leverage the next US debt limit increase to force federal spending cuts and changes to Social Security and other entitlement programs.

“There’s a set of solutions there that we really need to take on if we’re going to get serious about making these programs sustainable and getting this debt bomb at a manageable level before it’s too late,” Thune told Bloomberg editors and reporters in Washington.

1. Sen Thune, Social Security isn’t an “entitlement”, it’s earned insurance plan paid into by April he recipients

2. If you’re going to cut Social Security, where can I sign up for the retirement plan that you and other members of Congress get?

3. Guess you never got the memo from Trump that “the Republican Party needs to stop attacking Social Security”

4. You vote for all the subsidies for Ukraine. How does that square with your concern about our “debt bomb”?

The real scams are in Medicare & Medicaid.

Medicaid is now paying for food/rent & down payments to buy a house in Calif.

They can save Social Security by throwing freeloaders and foreigners who never did a thing to earn Social Security benefits off the damn recipient lists. There are too many ahos receiving Social Security and Medicare that never put one red cent into those programs. Get them the hell off of the list to receive money from those programs. It’s not rocket science! No workee, no checkee.

Good questions for which he has no answers. All I’m hoping for is a stalemate for the next two years. With all the RINOs we have in the Senate, it will not matter if we have a majority there or not. If the RINOs have enough guts and LEADERSHIP in the House, maybe we can accomplish a stalemate........until Trump gets elected in 2024.

John Thune doing his part to help ensure the DemocRATS prevail in the GEORGIA RUNOFFS. Can’t have a Trump endorsed candidate win there!

So, Thune & the GOP want to FIRST go after SS & Medicare for American citizens. Yet keep the Ukraine spigot open forever.

I guess that Georgia Senate seat means nothing to them.

“ John Thune doing his part to help ensure the DemocRATS prevail in the GEORGIA RUNOFFS. Can’t have a Trump endorsed candidate win there!”

I hadn’t thought about that. The timing is terrible if he wants The GOP to win the Georgia Senate seat. So maybe he’s trying to make sure the GOP loses there?

I wish Trump would make a statement calling out Thune.

Stop paying SS money to folks who NEVER paid into the program - STOP buying votes.

NO SS $$ to non-citizens.

I’ll support these “cuts”

Their first act is always to cut Social security. Its an entitlement program because we are all entitled to it. Its not like payment into it was optional for your entire working career.

SSI unlike most federal programs has specific financing from employers & employees through payroll taxes.
Thune is a jack ass for not scrutinizing other parts of the budget that aren’t.

He could start with the bloated federal workforce and pensions that have materialized since 1960, but he won’t, he’d rather go after some private sector person who may or may not have sufficient retirement income.

These types of proposals by Scott and Thune will get our “teeth kicked in” eventually by the electorate.

You might but most won’t, plus its politically and financially stupid.

The foreigner is taking all the money is also not a reality.

Cuts to the budget should start with all federal pensions and federal employment.

.
Everybody kept saying there was no GOP interested in cutting Social Security. Lindsey Graham said it was going to happen - lower payments to Social Security Retirees - on National TV.

There is money for every crazy tracking database and every crazy giveaway.

$106 Billion to Ukraine- and they voted against an auditor to see the money goes for declared purpose.

Social Security was taken out of people’s paychecks. Congress later passed a bill saying they could spend it. They didn’t lower the amount confiscated from checks though.

.

Government Pensions are sacrosanct.

They will never be cut, too close to the Swamp Fortunes, and the people they have influence over.
