Election officials in a rural Arizona county are gearing up for a slew of legal battles after they failed to certify the results of the 2022 midterm elections, facing criminal penalties and at least two lawsuits.
Two Republican supervisors in Cochise County, Arizona, voted to delay the county’s election results until Friday — four days after the state-mandated deadline. The vote quickly spurred court battles from state officials as they scramble to complete the statewide canvass, which requires certified results from all 15 counties before being completed.
“It’s astounding that Cochise County officials failed to certify the election results,” Alex Gulotta, the All Voting is Local Arizona state director, said in a statement. “The refusal to certify the results is directly tied to those who would rather sow distrust in our electoral process than protect our democracy and ensure that all votes are counted.”
The delay of the statewide canvass threatens the postponement of recounts in at least two statewide elections, including the attorney general’s race, which can’t begin until results across Arizona are certified. It also hinders candidates and outside groups wishing to sue over election results, as parties can’t file lawsuits until the vote counts are certified.
Cochise County supervisors voted to delay certifying election results amid pressure from Republican leaders who wished to reject Democratic wins over GOP candidates. As a result, two county supervisors, Republicans Tom Crosby and Peggy Judd, voted to push certification to Friday until they could receive more information about concerns over ballot tabulators.
Election officials have already deemed the ballot tabulators safe and accurate to use.

Certify or not matters little, so why do they bother when they will force certification regardless?
Oh you got me kiry...I’m an infiltrator from alpha epislon here to secretly infect this site by posting comments that some people might not agree with or cannot intellectually process.
I apologize for doubting your expertise in analyzing election results...you obviously have insights that no one else has.
I’ll go back to my planet and tell my masters that I was uncovered as a spy by you kiry....you have done an service for humanity and this planet...:)
And Yes I am a retread...I was once known as baal...a system lord...:)
Cochise County does not believe that the machines were pre-election certified as according to state law. The SOS office needs to provide evidence from licensed examiners that the machines were properly certified. That is the issue. If the machines were not good to go, no election certification. The ball is in the SOS’ court. The media reporting that the machines were just fine is like Maricopa County’s Richter and Gates saying 2022 was the best election operation ever. Cochise County (my home) is home to Tombstone, AZ and we have a long history of dealing with corruption.
I am sure he can. I can also analyze data and prove we are living in a virtual construct...doesn’t mean I am right.
Ha! Maybe this retread knows good old !1776!
That doesn’t seem to be the claim of Cochise elections officials. It’s machine certification.
Nobody cares what you think, vote fraud denier.
I should check your posts to see if you were hating on Kelly Tshibaka as much as you hate on Sarah Palin.
Interesting that we just brought that up yesterday (I hadn’t heard of this noob yet)...
You’re analysis on the numbers is interesting, but at the end of the day meaningless. And the objecting election officials aren’t raising that issue that I’ve seen. They placed their cards on tabulation machine certification.
I’ll save you the search. I’ve not been a Palin fan. I’ve not made much mention of the Arizona race except for suggesting the rule of law be followed.
I remember hearing it was about “certification of the machines” but perhaps it IS about sabotaging Ciscomani.
OF COURSE it's "meaningless".
I did LOL at your "rule of law" post.
Thanks for the grin.
If an election has mountainous problems to the point where citizens do not have the opportunity to cast their vote, the election should absolutely never be certified as complete? The ‘mandated’ dates for certification are bogus and should never be honored if any citizen was denied a vote. Period.
I understand the concern about who ultimately gets elected. But supporting unsupportable conclusions does nothing to assure or improve integrity. As someone noted, what Cochise is doing is largely the same as Ohio failing to certify because Wayne County may have suspicious voting activity.
Where are the words 'tested' and 'reliable' that prevent voter disenfranchisement from unreasonable wait lines due to equipment failures?
No, it's meaningless because the Democrats, their Media and the Assistant Democrats have agreed to have fraudulent "elections", and were able to prove to their satisfaction that they can shout down anyone trying to do anything about it.
My Obama 2008 Vote Fraud Detection tool shows the Democrats moving around their vote fraud troops like an army, wherever they're needed, and where their cash support allows.
True The Vote revealed the nature of the army.
