Between that and the Covid shots, it seems like it might be wise to for a monogamous heterosexual pureblood like me to stockpile my own blood. Are there blood banks that do that, or is the shelf-life too short to make it practical?
IIRC, with enough notice of an upcoming operation, a patient can donate their own blood for use during and after the procedure.
As for the soundness of scientific analysis underlying the rule change, let the rule maker go first. Build up an appropriate blood supply from this particular group, then have all the FDA types who signed off on the decision get a transfusion. Perfectly safe, right? They said so.
Kind of like having parachute riggers jump randomly selected parachutes that they packed. Parachutists trust them to be careful in packing them. Let them run the same risk to prove it.

Who’s to say who is “monogamous?” The partner who doesn’t know? And “monogamy” means something completely different in the sodomite population.
Who wants to bet that we will NOT hear of any marked rise in HIV-contaminated blood being collected, or transfused? Such news will by suppressed in the blink of an eye.
And why not apply this rule to IV drug addicts? As long as they're getting fresh, sterile needles from government-sponsored needle-exchange programs, they can donate. But if they use a needle of unknown status, they must wait 3 months to donate.
My recurrent warning about HIV caused premature aging: Scientists have known since 2012 that HIV infection causes premature aging of 12 years. HIV’s premature aging happens even if HIV is “undetectable,” i.e. being treated with antiretrovirals. This premature aging causes many diseases, like cancers, brittle bones, and kidney disease.
