Gay and bisexual men in monogamous relationships would be allowed to donate blood without abstaining from sex under guidelines being drafted by the Food and Drug Administration, people familiar with the plans said.
The change would be a departure from U.S. policy that for many years barred men who have sex with men from donating blood. The FDA policy originated in the 1980s during the AIDS epidemic, when tests for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, weren’t considered sensitive enough to protect the blood supply.
The FDA lifted the ban in 2015 but said gay and bisexual men had to abstain from sex for one year before donating. During the pandemic, amid severe blood shortages, federal officials shortened the abstinence requirement to three months.

That horse already left the barn. Modern AIDS meds reduce the viral titer to “undetectable”. Notice I said reduce, not eliminate, so any AIDS tests on donated blood show negative.
It’s all on the honor system anyway......at least where I donate..... they ask a few questions relative to homosexual sex and expect you to tell the truth.
I would imagine blood banks are lousy with gay peoples blood.

It's pretty difficult and risky to store blood. Blood isn't just some fluid. It's alive (Franklin Institute), and you have to do things to keep it alive. If it dies you don't want to use it.
The druggie are probably selling theirs at the plasma centers......you know, to support their drug habits.

Anything that I would ever attempt medically would not end well.
Question to ask. Is there a special supply of blood for the ruling elite? Do the people who decide this kind of thing take their chances with blood transfusions or do they get specially chosen, protected blood from normal people?

I have been reading about about an artificial blood substitutes for 40 years, seems like it is only 5-10 years away ?

If the 4.1% absolutely refuse to vote GOP, weren’t they already mostly going to do that anyway?
I think the blood supply fears will have traction politically. Like reparations.
