GOP senators behind bipartisan gun control say they're done

Following Uvalde, a small group of Republican senators broke with the rest of the party and negotiated a bipartisan gun control deal. It wasn’t the broad, sweeping anti-gun measures that many wanted, but it was gun control.

Now, following a series of mass shootings, there’s a renewed push for anti-gun legislation, this time in the form of an assault weapon ban.

Unfortunately for those pushing it, the Republicans behind the last bill aren’t interested in a repeat performance.

Every day in every way, the GOP finds a new way to stab, ‘We The People’ in the back. (With a very FEW minor exceptions.)

The GOP is dead to me.

“The GOP is dead to me.”

I don’t so much vote FOR the GOP as I vote AGAINST the Democrats.

Voting for either one is voting for your demise.

“Voting for either one is voting for your demise.”

So, do you think not voting at all is the better alternative?

“The GOP is dead to me.”

I’ve seen this on FR since I joined 2003. Every time, every week. How comes Freepers still haven’t learned they are assistant democraps (most of them)

If the GOP or conservative citizens had any balls, this would be judge-shopped until it was stopped/delayed/neutered.

“So, Mr. Congresscritter, how DO you spend your days in Our Fair Capitol?”

“Well, mainly, we sit around in our offices with our feet up, taking advantage of the Free Booze Delivery Pelosi set up for us and sit around and wait for some nutjob to start shooting up a school or a mall, find a way to blame it on Trump, and then we pass some legislation to take away even more of the God-given rights of the already-hobbled American Taxpayer. Then we go to a fundraiser cocktail party and find some more suckers to pay our way.”

Up until President Trump, they didn’t expose themselves as the corrupt UniParty Stooges they truly are.

We owe President in Exile Trump a debt of gratitude for that alone, that’s for sure!

?

Political parties, just as with people, are at best imperfect.

To withhold a GOP vote because the candidates aren't as reliably Conservative as we might like is a vote for the Dems, who are indeed, reliably moving farther left each year.

Every Perot voter I know totally rued and regretted his/her decision to "send a message". The Clintons wasted no time leaving an icky mark.

The message, heard clearly by the Dems, was that we are easily split.

The last two shootings?

The Walmart slaughter was done by a black democrat who supported Obama

And the gay nightclub was done by a Mx non-binary democrat...

The the hammer attack on “John” Paul Pelosi? Gay street person homeless freak...

I don’t see a pattern that suggest taking guns away from law biding conservative citizens will accomplish anything.

They won’t be able to hide behind anything or anyone else if they go out on that limb now, so these political prostitutes will slink back into the shadows until another opportunity to screw over Americans becomes available!!

Democrats are always unified. You can’t wedge a degree of separation between any of them. Ever. The Republicans OTOH are complete wandering buffoons disguised as statesmen wanting to be liked by everyone.

No, it is not.

It is not voting for a weak GOP candidate.

<>So, do you think not voting at all is the better alternative?<>

Hmmm. We constantly read at FR that we don’t live in a democracy but rather a constitutional republic. That means limited government, enumerated powers, separation of powers, federalism, recognition of rights, equality before the law, etc.

In a democracy, 50% + 1 can tyrannize the minority.

If our enjoyment of the blessings of liberty is contingent on the party in power, do we live in a constitutional republic?

The party in power, the rat Deep State/Uniparty reinforced in 2022 what it did in 2020. They’ve perfected the Art of the Steal and will never relinquish power.

As to your point, I view federal elections as placeboes. They are sugar cubes designed to make the people feel that their votes matter, that We the People are self-governing.

I’ve never missed an election since my first in 1972. But I’ve just about convinced myself that voting does little more than condone tyranny. The Soviet Union and Venezuela had/have elections too.

New legislation will allow one bullet for a revolver to be carried in a shirt pocket. Just in case it’s needed.

And the killer of the Idaho students?

My guess:

the killer’s a minority - likely an illegal. And he’s sexually confused, hates real women - hates real men and would have voted for Biden if he had been legal.

It’s possible he knows Paul Pelosi.

Or he’s a retired ‘Intelligence’ thug who earned his chops signing and helping publish a letter that was a lie that helped swing an election. A lie that also saved a sexually confused whore monger related to the President of the United States.
