MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is urging Congress to come together in a bipartisan fashion to pass legislation to prevent a looming rail strike that would cripple the American economy, calling it the "best way forward" amid stalled labor negotiations between the major freight railroads and four hold-out unions.
Buttigieg's comments came during a Tuesday evening interview with Fox News Digital at the Memphis International Airport, where he touted a $174 million investment from the Department of Transportation (DOT) for the production of de-icing pads at the facility
"Where I hope to see it going is bipartisan cooperation to move this quickly through Congress and get it to the president's desk," Buttigieg said. "Look, I don't care what your politics are, America can't have a rail shutdown. There is no substitute for a well-functioning rail system in the country."

Butt advertising to become Karamela’s VP. Let it happen. Let the Democrats embrace the suck, literally.
Of course. He would have no clue, nor would his boss.

Trains also need diesel fuel.
A lot of it.
I think it was 2 locomotives needed 4000gal?
They used to have some marketing thing….train can move 1 ton, on a gallon of fuel, a certain amount of miles it was either 50 or 500 miles.
Either way, changes in the industry started in the spring of 2017, brought on by one guy and his crew. Trains got longer and heavier. Started breaking down more. All while this same person was firing as many folks as he could.
And of, course, blamed all the problems on the workers.
While he is dead, his crew is still around running things. The safe fund billionaire is still around, laughing. And none of the right people are being held to account.
Has Buttigieg done anything while Sec. of Transportation to improve or even maintain a working transportation system in our nation? Has he ever address supply chain issues overall or even been a part of the railroad workers’ strike discussions? Could someone name me one, just one, of his accomplishments since his appointment?
