Kevin McCarthy is Wesley Mouch

methinks he is just another power hungry politician who will say and do whatever he thinks is in HIS BEST INTEREST, not ours. another one of those election time “brave” RINOS spouting false promises to be conservative....see Lindsey Graham
fool me once shame on him, fool me twice shame on me.
They've been working without a contract for almost 3 years while "negotiations" have been ongoing.
Kevin. You want to be the Speaker?
Be Bold!
Pass the thing. Read it later.
Well, isn’t that exactly what is happening? As far as I’m aware, Congress isn’t being asked to make up the agreements itself. The Administration put forth two bills that included specific provisions, and is asking Congress to approve them.
Like every other group, they only want the VOTE. After that, FU.
Let the stupid Republicans handle it now. I say let them strike shut down everything.
Also true. Workers can’t use paid suck days for dr.’s appts.
The scheduling issue was not dealt with in the contract agreed to by union leadership. That’s one reason members voted it down.
In a nutshell, .gov is using this to grab more power.
The Railroads are crucial to the health and defense of the country, therefore the .gov folks can take over the RR.
Next comes interstate trucking, what’s after that? Farming? Manufacturing? Answer: Anything .gov wants to control.
Then what’s the issue? Read the details of the story. Biden is pressing Congress to simply force the solution that that was already negotiated back in December. Case closed. No need for any more negotiations at all.
So do I. But that doesn’t mean we should reflexively oppose everything he says. That’s silly and childish.
Obviously, the issue was not acceptable to a few of the unions, why not hear them out and get them onboard.
Unless you want to face an Air Traffic Controller situation and the workers strike anyway, at that point Biden might be able to fire them and replace them with WHO ??
Sorry — back in SEPTEMBER.
Laying devil’s advocate here:
So you are saying that the government should force a group of non government workers to accept work conditions that a legally formed union has already rejected?
Biden should declare a 90 day cooling off period and haul them into the White House and force them there. But he would look like a leader if he did that.
It has to do with when they start getting paid sick leave, how the process works, and how their accounting works.
It’s all based on a point system. Days off actually carry different point values; and “earning” points doesn’t.
I saw a detailed explanation the other day. It sounded like a nightmare.
If he wants real cover he can declare the 90 cooling off period…and dump it in the R’s lap in the house. Getting 60 senators to agree on anything is tough.
Let’s keep in mind that the leverage these railroad workers have is dwarfed by the leverage of all the other industries and workers who rely on the railroads for their survival. U.S. railroad law is designed to protect THEM, not the railroads and their workers.
So you are saying that the government should force a group of non government workers to accept work conditions that a legally formed union has already rejected?
Yes. That is precisely the type of scenario the Railway Labor Act was designed to address.
Let’s also keep in mind that 8 of the 12 unions DID approve the deal.
I guess I would not want to be in the National Guard or army units being activated for those 4 railroad unions.
He did that already if I’m not mistaken
