What's the point? It's been legal nationwide since 2015, and the whole reason for this legislation was because of Clarence Thomas's post-Dobbs comments. In the event the Supreme Court wanted to return gay marriage back to the states, this law would do zero to prevent that. It's completely meaningless, and all the D.C. politicians calling it "landmark" or whatever are knowingly full of crap.

The reason they needed this legislation is exactly because of white supremacist Republican fascists like Clarence Thomas.

He would rule against interracial marriage in a New York minute if such a case ever came before the Supreme Court.

This law would require states to honor all lawful marriages from other states, including those of same-sex couples. In that scenario a gay or lesbian couple residing in a state where same-sex marriage is banned could go to another state to get married, and upon their return their home state would be required under the Constitution’s Full Faith & Credit Act to recognize the marriage, even if it wasn’t legal under that state’s laws.

What’s the point? To make it easier for activists to sue Christians

The Senate GOP let this happen, by providing just enough votes to get it past a filibuster. They are doing the bidding of the billionaire donors who own them. Mitch let senators in safe seats or who aren’t running for re-election “take the heat” by votin to clear the filibuster

Clarence Thomas provided the proponents with an excuse by writing that the same-sex ruling should be revisited. I love the guy, but that as stupid. It accomplished nothing and only gave ammunition to the gay agenda activists

The purpose is to take it away as a potential issue in future elections. Yes, there’s a Supreme Court ruling, and it’s of a kind that won’t be overturned. But the Dems would still try to milk the issue for votes, so this is a ploy to blunt that.

From what was said on the Todd Starnes radio show an amendment to protect religious institutions from being sued for refusing to marry same sex couples was shot down.

So that tells you the likely internet of this legislation.

The point is to criminalize Christians. Thanks for asking.

The point is to force people of faith to honor, celebrate, participate in, and even pay for the sexual fantasies of the crotch obsessed lgbtqxyz droolers.

From what I’ve been told (haven’t researched personally) the purpose of this legislation is to force church’s to marry and to force business’ to “bake the cake” . If true, it’s awful.

In the event the Supreme Court wanted to return gay marriage back to the states…

How could they do that? Declare this law unconstitutional?

The point is to capture more voting blocks.
No wonder the red wave fizzled. Senator Graham’s proposal to ban abortions after 15 weeks did the damage.
