"I find that very disheartening," he concluded.

Two members of the Mohave County, Ariz., Board of Supervisors on Monday voted to certify the results of the Nov. 8 midterm elections "under duress," claiming he was forced to do so under threat of jail time.

"I vote 'aye' under duress. I found out today that I have no choice but to vote 'Aye' or I will be arrested and charged with a felony," Gould said while casting his vote. "I don't think that that is what the founders had in mind when they used the democratic process to elect our leaders."

"I find that very disheartening," he concluded. Video footage of the vote showed Gould raise his objections. Just the News has sought comment from Gould.

"I found out today that I have no choice but to vote "Aye" or I will be arrested and charged with a felony."

Ron Gould of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors was told he would be arrested if he did not certify the election.

Mohave was certified under duress."

And what is the point of having a certification if is automatic and without regard to any standard? This is forced corruption. If we still had a real justice system then this forced certification would be struck down. When there is a refusal to certify then there should be legal process to present a case for non certification.

I’m guessing that in order to *not* certify, that there are rules that state that the relevant officials need to explain the reasons why? If they have no reason to doubt the election results in their county, then I can see why failing to certify would be disenfranchising the voters of their county and could be seen as a crime.

On the other hand, I do see the importance of not certifying as a protest against other corrupt counties (Maricopa), and also if it prevents the statewide elections from being made official. If civil disobedience is a virtue, then principled disobedience by elected officials should be as well...

In any case, this is going to the courts, maybe even the Supreme Court. I know they are reluctant to intervene in state elections, but if ever there was a time to do it, now is the time.

So is the freedom of these elected officials more important than the J6 protesters? Does that justify them lying and certifying an election they know was stolen?

And you know who else does their duty and never have a guarantee they will reach their next birthday? Soldiers, cops, and others.
What does it say when elected officials exhibit less backbone than them, and simply sell out the country to save their own skin?

It was a wrong headed hope to short circuit certification. I think the brass tacks of a probable lawsuit got them reconsidering the stunt.

Is it time for Arizonans invoke their 2 nd amendment right against tyranny and prevent Fuhrer Hobbs from taking office. NOT talking about SHOOTING. Citizens’ arrest along with Sherriff Sorosflunkey in Maricopa? This should invalidate all certifications.

The Art of the Steal is now incorporated and substantiated. The GOP is once again, silent and neutered. There are Pollyanna yahoos who think 2024 will magically be different. MAGA might not win. But DeSantis won’t either. Neither will a host of RINOs who sit idly, sipping cocktails on the circuit, not imagining that the leftist cheat machine could possibly be turned on them as well.

Soon it will move from the ballot box to the bullet box.

Sad to see this happen as everyone will suffer.

But FREEDOM is essential for a soul to grow.

I’m a pacifist, always seeking peace, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist or mystic to see what is unfolding in the future.

😢

It is one thing to have a difference of opinion. It is quite another to insult people, ostensibly people who theoretically should be on your side, because they differ.

People can disagree passionately on things without resorting to unpleasant things like ad hominem attacks, profanity, etc. When people make that jump in a conversation without any real provocation, that tells me that the likely underlying reasons are:

When I told one of these types of people the other day that I frequent FR so I can take part in reasoned discussion of issues, the person responded that "There hasn’t been “reasoned” discussion here for years."

I looked at that response, and in his or her case, I had to assume that was absolutely the case for that person.

There are a few people that it is simply never worth the effort to engage, even on a subject of relatively minor import, because they don't seem capable of controlling their emotions and remaining civil. I know some Freepers keep lists. I guess we all do whether we write them down or not.

Agreed. So you allow the corruption. Maybe getting arrested is exactly what is needed to shine a spotlight on all this. My guess is that it is an empty threat, as it is the last thing they’d want.

Re: 13 - Nothing is stopping you from heading to AZ to get protest and possibly be arrested to make the point.

Yet you castigate others for not doing that.

Mohave County is certifying ONLY their results. What happens in another county is not relevant to the Mohave County certification.
