The Pentagon is considering a Boeing proposal to supply Ukraine with cheap, small precision bombs fitted onto abundantly available rockets, allowing Kyiv to strike far behind Russian lines as the West struggles to meet demand for more arms.
U.S. and allied military inventories are shrinking, and Ukraine faces an increasing need for more sophisticated weapons as the war drags on. Boeing's proposed system, dubbed Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB), is one of about a half-dozen plans for getting new munitions into production for Ukraine and America's Eastern European allies, industry sources said.
GLSDB could be delivered as early as spring 2023, according to a document reviewed by Reuters and three people familiar with the plan. It combines the GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) with the M26 rocket motor, both of which are common in U.S. inventories.

Good!
GBU is short for Guided Bomb Unit. Here's an artist concept:
Boeing probably conducted IR&D on this concept many years ago.
Prior to release to UKR, the "concept" will go through an accelerated DT/OT process. Hopefully the DT/OT process will include Polish MiGs.
There are several different guidance systems:
GPS/INS
GPS / INS with terminal semi-active laser guidance
GPS / INS with dual-band two-way datalink, IIR and millimeter wave active radar homing
The MiGs will probably launch the GPS/INS versions.
When UKR gets F-16s, they would be able to launch the GPS / INS with dual-band two-way datalink, IIR and millimeter wave active radar homing version.
I fear you are correct, sir.
From the article: “GLSDB could be delivered as early as spring 2023, according to a document reviewed by Reuters and three people familiar with the plan.”
Let us pray the war is over before then.
There is only one way that all of this will stop, and that is for the Russians to go home.
The Russians are far more in need of state-of-the-art weapons than the US.
And Vlad will see to it that Russian forces get them.
IIR imaging infrared
Correct...2 ways for that to work. The pilot could steer the bomb based on what he is seeing in the IIR picture. Or the pilot could lock onto a target and the bomb would steer itself.
Steering the bomb or locking onto a target from 100 miles away has a lot of appeal to me.
It is my understanding that there are about 25 million Russians that live in areas once part of the CCCP that are not in the Russian Federation.
Ukraine as a half-functioning state is now dead & gone forever.
The carcass will be picked over even more with additional US military support. It was never about Ukrainians. War started in 2014 and will end in 2023.
Its like Hitler’s Luftwaffe at Gurnica all over again..
A war is destabilizing ending it is not.
Ending it by expanding it? When this fails do you propose nukes to end it. We can end it by not funding it, globalists and neocons be damned
Yes, and other than Crimea they are in the minority in the Ukrainian oblasts. Russians are not a "super race" that have greater rights than others, that they can say "here are Russians and we must be part of Russia even if the majority here are non-Russians."
Boeing? Why don’t they convert their 800 or so idled 737 MAX planes into giant remote control kinetic bombs?
Great idea. What could possibly go wrong?
Since when do arms sellers suggest foreign policy decisions that could lead to WW3? This is insane.
How about sending a delegation to force peace talks instead?
