Exclusive: U.S. weighs sending 100-mile strike weapon to Ukraine
Reuters ^ | 28-NOV-2022 | Mike Stone

The Pentagon is considering a Boeing proposal to supply Ukraine with cheap, small precision bombs fitted onto abundantly available rockets, allowing Kyiv to strike far behind Russian lines as the West struggles to meet demand for more arms.

U.S. and allied military inventories are shrinking, and Ukraine faces an increasing need for more sophisticated weapons as the war drags on. Boeing's proposed system, dubbed Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB), is one of about a half-dozen plans for getting new munitions into production for Ukraine and America's Eastern European allies, industry sources said.

GLSDB could be delivered as early as spring 2023, according to a document reviewed by Reuters and three people familiar with the plan. It combines the GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) with the M26 rocket motor, both of which are common in U.S. inventories.

GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) and the M26 rocket motor are plentiful allowing the US to supply UA with a low cost high precision weapon with a 100 mile range.

“Lockheed Martin make about 4,600 of the missiles per year; more than 5,000 have been sent to Ukraine so far, according to a Reuters analysis.”

The US has been sending approximately 550 HIMAR missiles to UA per month. That rate is just a bit more than the US production rate. That means there will be no shortage of HIMAR missiles for years, if ever.

The title is wrong.

It should be “The US is weighing whether to instigate WWIII”.

Wow. So they may trickle in by Spring of 2023...

Meanwhile, Russia fires 10,000 artillery rounds a day and the Ukraine fires around 3,000 artillery rounds a day.

thanks to The Tsar’s never-ending invasion, Western countries now have lots of chances to develop new high-tech weapons systems, AND get to test them under real-world battle conditions, to work out the bugs

thanks Vlady!

When US arms manufacturers dictate foreign policy, we have entered Wag the Dog territory, but Speedo is too dopey to recognize this.

It should be “The US is weighing whether to instigate WWIII”.

Right...gives the West the opportunity to clear out old obsolete stuff (that still goes BOOM!) from the warehouses and to make way for newer, more modern ordnance.

More destabilizing NATO escalation. All of this new stuff operated by some Uke draftee. We are very quickly approaching the point where after NATO personnel using NATO weapons will have killed enough tens of thousands of Russians to force the Russians to begin killing tens of thousands of NATO personnel

Biden admin scrambles to track $20B in Ukraine aid as House Republicans warn of audits...

They used at least 1 billion of Ukraine money to buy the Senate (outside of cheating).

That’s the NeoCon plan.

More death and global control.

Or they could supply the larger drone bombs or longer HIMARS. No wait time on those. They could be in Ukraine by the end of the week.

Ukraine should have missiles that could attack infrastructure inside the USSR.
