More than 7,000 people were murdered over three months in South Africa, according to new police statistics, which showed a rise in violent crime from the same period last year.

*****

Almost 1,000 women were among those murdered during the period in 2022. More than 13,000 women were also victims of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and 1,277 women were victims of attempted murder.

“The rate at which women are abused, violated and some killed in South Africa remains worrying and unacceptable,” Police Minister Bheki Cele told a news conference.

The figures also showed that kidnappings doubled to more than 4,000 compared with the same time last year; and rapes, in a country notorious for sex attacks against women and children, were up 11 percent, with 10,000 cases opened across the country

South Africa should have never had apartheid. They should have given the existing blacks a take it or leave-it approach, where they can either integrate into the country and follow the law or leave. Then they should have restricted legal immigration to Europeans only.

As I recall, back some years ago, the South African government enlisted our darling Wendy Cukier of the Coalition for Gun Control (Canada) in drafting their gun control laws.

The British tried to get them to leave Natal, but ran into some problems with the Zulu at Mount Kitzelawaya.

You mean women aren’t predators, too? Are you saying that’s a man’s job that women can’t or won’t do? Even brawny-armed bull dykes? Why, that’s sexism!/s

Then they should have restricted legal immigration to Europeans only.

South Africa was a colonial economy, based on agriculture, mining, and other extractive labor-intensive industries.

Of course those at the top wanted to flood the economy with cheap (black) migrant labor from the hinterlands and neighboring countries.

I really want to visit! Waiting for this Fourth Turning to end.
You are so fortunate to have been.

I followed Tulio De Oliviera on Twitter and his vacation pics were incredible.

I went to South Africa about 5 years ago with my church group at the time.

At one point we went on safari. Our tour trucks parked beside a pride of lions feeding on giraffe carcass. there maybe half dozen more lions resting in the grass. occasionally they would pop their heads up.

Inside the safari truck was safe. But we could easily feel that the bubble of safety extended only inside the safari truck. Outside the bubble was a profound menace. Step outside of the truck and you faced some terrible dangers.

Our church group visited two other places around South Africa: Johannesburg, Cape Town. There we also felt like we were in a bubble. As long as we stayed with the group in the places that the group went at the time that the group went—we were safe. But the menace could be felt. It was a visceral menace.

Curiously we went up to zambia and namibia briefly. There was no menace there at all.

And that right there explains why he's the Police Minister and you aren't.

“I think white flight begins as soon as the first blacks arrive and just accelerates as the number grows larger. That’s what I witnessed in my old neighborhood in Minneapolis.”

I live out in the countryside on a few acres of land. It is not cheap. My area is about 80% white and the rest is Mexican and a few blacks and Asian. One of the Mexicans is my wife married to this white boy. The minorities in my area share the same values, they do not like the crap that is going on in the city. We all voted with our feet and left the city.

We do have a couple of rabid left wingers. They are white and retired teachers, one the retired school principal.

My city hired a black police office for muh diversity. He brought his family of course. We never had any graffiti or car break ins until they moved in. Spray paint tagging every where. Violent attacks by blacks in the park and random black people stealing from stores and walking in the middle of the street. Despite being so obvious the city PD of course tried to gaslight everyone as just being part of a growing city. (We aren’t growing). They lasted about a year and left after one of the harsh PNW winters. It just took one family to bring in the black undertow.

I saw that anybody with money in Cape Town has to live under constant high security - seems it would be nerve wracking.

Were the English blaring Snoop Dog on their trumpets or have their red trousers down to their buttons? Didn’t think so. Good for you staying in the soon to be ghetto and letting your house value sink. Bet your savings are still in crypto huh?

>>the city PD of course tried to gaslight everyone<<

In South Africa, you can buy a device that “gaslights” the immediate area around your car.
