More than 7,000 people were murdered over three months in South Africa, according to new police statistics, which showed a rise in violent crime from the same period last year.

Almost 1,000 women were among those murdered during the period in 2022. More than 13,000 women were also victims of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and 1,277 women were victims of attempted murder.
“The rate at which women are abused, violated and some killed in South Africa remains worrying and unacceptable,” Police Minister Bheki Cele told a news conference.
The figures also showed that kidnappings doubled to more than 4,000 compared with the same time last year; and rapes, in a country notorious for sex attacks against women and children, were up 11 percent, with 10,000 cases opened across the country

Hmmm, what does South African government have in common with the governments of Chicago, Baltimore, NYC, Atlanta besides high murder rates?
Thank goodness apartheid isn’t making things much worse.
The easiest way to determine the crime rate in any town, city, or country is to know the percentage of blacks that live there or in close proximity. There is no such thing as a “high crime area” there are only high-crime populations, and blacks are the highest crime population no matter where they are.
That would be about 42,000 Americans.
It’s a tad high.

I read a study that said White-flight-panic begins when the Black population in any area reaches 23%.
I'm long gone before that.
I think white flight begins as soon as the first blacks arrive and just accelerates as the number grows larger. That’s what I witnessed in my old neighborhood in Minneapolis.

5% is about the maximum that can work before societal trust starts to evaporate.
If you look at all the “nice” communities where wealthy people live the black numbers are all below 5%.
It does in neighborhoods. It just accelerates as the numbers increase. I believe values start flipping around 15% or so.
I spent 3 weeks there in 2018. I’ll say four things from traveling the country and talking to locals.
1. There was a tremendous amount of corruption during Apartheid and just as much now after Apartheid. Virtually all races believe that.
2. If they settled on one central language, everyone agrees it would help.
3. Everyone expects when the farms/orchards/vineyards are finally grabbed...that a economic collapse will happen within five years.
4. Just an odd topic came up in a number of number of conversations with black males...they seemed pepped-up on Trump and asking questions how Trump would resolve their landscape. They all knew of the guy, and were fascinated by him.
Years ago I read an article in the Economist that essentially concluded the same thing. I've unfortunately been unable to find the article.

I’ve seen that happen as well, in various areas around the country where friends and relatives live. The neighborhoods go downhill as older residents move away, and the new residents are almost all members of minority groups.
What? Women are half the population, and only one seventh of the murder victims. That’s encouraging. More chicks for the surviving men.
