Trump Leads DeSantis By 30 Points In GOP Primary Poll Taken After Presidential Announcement

45th President Donald Trump has overwhelming support from Republican voters when pitted up against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, according to a new poll conducted by Emerson College.

The poll found that 55% of Republicans support the former president in a hypothetical 2024 Republican primary, with Governor DeSantis coming in second place with only 25%.

Remaining potential Republican candidates failed to reach double-digit support.

“There is a stark education divide among Republican primary voters,” Spencer Kimball, Emerson College’s Polling Executive Director. “A 71% majority of voters with a high school degree or less support Trump in 2024, whereas 14% support DeSantis.”

“A 53% majority of those with a college degree, some college, or associate’s degree, support Trump while 28% support DeSantis. By contrast, Republican voters with a postgraduate degree are most split: 32% support Trump, 29% support DeSantis, and 18% support Mike Pence for the Republican nomination,” he added.

According to Kimball, a stark age divide exists between President Trump and DeSantis supporters, with younger voters supporting the former president over the Florida firebrand by over 50 points.

“Younger voters under 50 break for Trump over DeSantis 67% to 14%,” Kimball said. “Voters between 50 and 64 break for Trump 54% to 32%, while Republicans over 65 are more split: 39% support Trump and 32% DeSantis.”

The poll comes as the two Republican figures have traded jabs at each other in the wake of the 2022 midterm election results and conversations over who will receive the Republican nomination in 2024.

Speculations as to who President Trump will select as his 2024 running mate took an interesting turn this week after it was revealed that billionaire rapper and fashion mogul Ye, formerly known as “Kanye West,” discussed sharing the 2024 ticket with the former president during a meeting at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Tuesday.

First time at Mar-a-Lago

Rain and traffic

Can’t believe I kept President Trump waiting

And I had on jeans Yikes

What you guys think his response was when I asked him to be my running mate in 2024?

I now believe it was Trump’s endorsements that drove Dems to the polls...and killed the red wave.

Well, then you are willingly being led about by the Nose by the Propagandists in the Media, Establishment GOP, and the Globalists, since you seemingly discount Voter Fraud.

In essence, a non-thinking NPC.

But but but our good friends in the media polled and said Heavy D was way ahead - oh I’m soo confused.

Sorry to see that some her still don’t understand what happened.
This was the beginning of the Smash and Grab elections. Since there are nom judges that have the courage to say “Okay, I’ve seen enough do this election over,” we will continue to see them.
The next step is masked men charging into counting rooms spraying the ceiling with bullets and declaring the Democrat/communist the winner.

Daily there are news stories telling us how Trump is finished, kaput, and done. However, they have no evidence to back that assertion. Most conservatives would still vote for him.

The GOPe wants us to return to voting for THEIR candidate which is someone such as Haley, Hogan, or Pence. That’s not going to happen for a lot of Trump supporters. The GOP needs the Trump vote but refuse to admit it. Instead they continue to vilify conservatives just as much as the democrats do. They have placed themselves in an awful position for 2024 since they have alienated a large part of their own base. They screwed up the 2022 elections by refusing to support candidates endorsed by Trump. If that is their strategy for 2024, there is no way they can win. Which just might be their preference.

I liked the “Before brainwashing - After brainwashing” aspect of the poll.

The poll numbers are about name/personal recognition, not position/popularity based. I’m not saying he’ll overtake Trump but DeSantis goes up from here if he doesn’t do anything stupid.

The establishment wants to be rid of Trump but they actually have no candidates who are willing to put themselves forward.

The Republican donor class has always hated Trump but they have no alternative and they actually know it. DeSantis has not declared and likely will not. None of the other people could defeat Trump like Pence, Haley, Cotton, Pompeo, or Hawley. No one knows who these people are. And those who do know don’t like them.

DeSantis should wait until 2028. Him running in 2024 just helps Pence and the Uniparty.

You are correct. Him running now guarantees a Democrat POTUS in 2024 as it will completely split the base.

Completely meaningless without DeSantis actually declaring any intent to run.

Ron DeSantis has not announced his candidacy for the nomination to be President. Florida needs him to complete his second term as Governor of Florida, through 2026. He may announce for his intention to run for the Presidency on the Republican ticket sometime in 2l27, but that is right now pretty far down the road.

Can we have the Trump MAGA movement in the absence of Donald Trump at the helm? To pose the question is almost to answer it, and the answer would be “No”. It would no longer be the MAGA movement, but something else entirely.

Donald Trump is a rock star, and a force of nature. Both are new phenomena is the history of politics in the United States, which has had its share of charismatic characters in the past, but nothing like the true animal magnetism that has crowds chanting “USA!” and “We love you!” in unison.

Should Trump be successful in his third quest for office, he would be 78 in January 2025, and 82 when he departs in January 2029. He has consistently shown that he has a vastly sharper intellect than many people give him credit for, and he displays energy that men half his age would envy. Years of a positive mental attitude and clean living are paying huge dividends today, as a lesser man would have failed under the pressures that have been mounted against him.

I rather resent the implication that College degrees make you more “Centrist” eg less conservative.
I have a STEM degree and there isn’t a modern Democrat I’d consider voting for. People with BA college degrees
are not very bright. They just spent a lot of money to get a government job, teach, or be a Barista.
I don’t like Trump, however since I vote for Freedom and my wallet, He seems to be the best bet for 2024. I think Fla. needs a few more years of DeSantis to recover from Bush and Crist.

Polling should be outlawed punishable by a mandatory 5 year prison sentence with no possibility of parole if convicted.

2nd offense 20 years.

Polling had been weaponized into something it was never meant to be....a tool to sway voters and convince them to vote for a particular candidate......or even cause voters to be so apathetic they don’t even vote at all.

That’s not only wrong....it’s evil.

“Most conservatives would still vote for him.”

Yup...he still has strong support of (conservatives) because frankly they have little choice since there is no other on the right with half his name recognition since the media loves covering him.

Independents, not so much.
