US officials pressured Canada to stop ‘Freedom Convoy,’ new testimony reveals

op Biden administration officials pressed their Canadian counterparts to clear truckers blockading parts of the United States’s northern border during protests in January.

A public inquiry into the Canadian government’s decision to use emergency powers to clear the “Freedom Convoy” protesters revealed on Thursday that frantic phone calls were placed by Washington to Ottawa in an effort to open up choked-off supply lines.

“They are very, very, very worried,” Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland wrote in an email to her staff after a Feb. 10 phone call from White House National Economic Council Director Brian Deese, according to Politico.

“If this is not sorted out in the next 12 hours, all of their northeastern car plants will shut down,” Freeland continued in her email.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg phoned his Canadian counterpart, Transport Minister Omar Alghabra, the same day Deese called Freeland, according to the report, and Buttigieg pressed Alghabra about Canada’s “plan to resolve” the protests.

Alghabra told the commission that Buttigieg initiated the call and that the interaction was “unusual.”

I knew this at the time, and said so here on FR.

If those truckers had simply occupied Ottawa and refused to move their rigs, they’d still be there. Once they shut down the Ambassador Bridge to Detroit I knew it was over. Canada is the little b!tch of the U.S., and the U.S. would never allow vital industries to be put at risk like that due to disruptions in their supply chains.

The present administration is entirely composed of vermin, slime, excrement, and scum.
There is no punishment sufficient to “reward” them.
We have to do some serious thinking.

With diesel where it is, and a rail worker strike, things might get interesting.

Combine that with real estate in the US and China, and numerous banking issues in China, US, and Europe…

I am not hopeful about 2023 economically. Luckily I’m just a nobody, so my opinion is just that.

There was a near complete blackout of coverage when truckers protested here in the US. Biden and ilk had their cronies in the msm stifle any reporting of it and they complied like good, little, lapdogs

Yes they did, validating my assessment of the value of Urinalists composing the Mainstream Media Propaganda Arm of the Prog Liberal Socialist Democrat Party.

Protests are a highly effective means of seeking change.

We desperately need a new tea party movement and people willing to join it.

There is some saying along the lines of scratch a liberal and underneath you will find a fascist. A flaming G in LGBT progressive pressures his counterpart in Canada to "resolve" peaceful non-violent civil disobedience. The flaming G does this at the behest of American big business. If that is not fascism, I do not know what is. United States auto plants suspending operation is not the concern of the US government. Alfred E. Newman went to all the right schools and worked at the right places to become a fist for Big Business. Did he even understand, with all his credentials, the burning irony of what he did?

Sounds like exactly the right response by the US.

Shutting down a bunch of auto plants would only hurt American blue collar workers.

Message to Canadian and American working men and women over the past two years: NEVER challenge the power of socialist/marxist governments.

Baloney. Suspending operations due to the closure of a major border crossing is absolutely a concern of the U.S. government — especially when you consider that both countries operate under the terms of a trade agreement that has specific provisions related to the auto industry.

I said back then, that the governments would kill the truckers if they didn’t stop the blockade.

Once Kanada closed their border, they invalidated the agreement. Giving a Kanadian driver the option of delivering to the United States, and not returning because they didn't take the Jim Jones Jab, voids any agreement.

In addition, any trade agreement between the United States government and the Kanadian government is null and void once either party is violating citizens' rights to enforce it.
