Stanford goalie Katie Meyer was facing disciplinary action before she tragically took her own life in February, according to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by her parents against the university.
Meyer was said to be riding her bike in the summer when she apparently spilled coffee on a Stanford football player, who allegedly sexually assaulted a female soccer player — a minor at the time — according to the lawsuit, which was obtained by USA Today Sports. Meyer, who served as the captain of the Stanford women’s soccer team, was sent a notice regarding imminent disciplinary action over the incident, which took place in August, on the evening of her death, per the suit.
“Stanford’s after-hours disciplinary charge, and the reckless nature and manner of submission to Katie, caused Katie to suffer an acute stress reaction that impulsively led to her suicide,” the complaint read.

I wonder, is this a type of roid rage run amok in a female?
Then the man goes to jail.
In the old days, women slapped men in the face all the time, at least according to the movies, and very few were torn apart by men.
Maybe it depends on how hot the coffee was.
It’s Stanford. Think Cal-Berkeley only slightly more rational.
And (not to cast aspersions on the dead) but I wouldn't rule out some kind of lesbian factor where she might have been retaliating for this guy making advances on "her" girl (no mention of a boyfriend). I've worked with lesbians and they can get VERY defensive if a guy starts making moves on someone they themselves are attracted to.
“Apparently the football player had been accused of trying to kiss a girl without receiving permission first.”
That makes it sound like awkward Mickey Rooney trying to steal a kiss from demure Judy Garland. It might have been something much more menacing.
There are so many unknowns. Everyone’s perceived identities, preferences, pronouns, expectations, medications. Which “victim” or “privilege” cards were played.
A Twitter entry said Meyer was riding her bike and passed the guy who held a cup of coffee. She smacked the cup, thus spilling the coffee. She ignored all the school notices of disciplinary action.
No information on how she killed herself. “Self inflicted” is all they say. She died on March 1. Her cause of death wasn’t announced until March 4th.
She had recent knee surgery and pain.
I think you have the order reverse. He spilled the coffee on him after he was accused of sexual assault, but found not guilty or something like that.
and the baller’s name?
sad a beautiful young soul felt she had no other path forward. It’s all too common these days.
Doctors, it seems, have abandoned the Hippocratic Oath. Now, might be a good time for lawyers to pick it up.
I fail to see how this would concern the University one way or another. Did the football player make a big deal out of this? Things happen everyday, probably was an accident .
How do you make a leap of illogic to thinking this was a Lesbian incident?
I didn’t say I thought it was, but was only speculating the possibility based on what was said and unsaid in the article. It is not outside the realm of possibility. We’ll see as new details emerge.
Hmmmmmm very good question.

EXCERPT:
Suicide among student athletes, especially women, has become more common in recent years. In the spring [2022] alone, at least five, including Meyer, died from suicide. In a recent NCAA survey, reports of anxiety and depression, and mental exhaustion, have remained 1.5 to 2 times higher than before the pandemic, according to responses from over 9,800 student-athletes.
Had recent knee surgery

Perhaps she could not bear to live in a world where a woman who spills coffee on a guy is disciplined and expelled, but a guy who rapes a woman suffers no consequences whatsoever.
I will say that I find your suspicion most plausible. The emotion of jealousy is a most common motivation for many of the actions described.
The parents should, perhaps, rethink their unwillingness to let go of her. They may learn things they wish they hadn’t.
