Depends what kind of burns were suffered from it. The woman who got burned by mcdonalds coffee in the 90s suffered third degree burns over 16% of her body and required skin grafts and two years of medical treatments.

They’d hire the lawyers for who the conservative assaulted with scalding coffee.

I suspect she poured a cup of boiling coffee in the guy and burned him.

Probably based on a fake accusation of rape.

But that’s just me being cynical.

Even if Stanford kicked her off the soccer team and expelled her, so what?

In a society that doesn't value life and teaches nothing about the love of Christ, one's value is based on their endeavors and nothing more. Any deviation from perfection is seen as a failure in life.

Yet another reason not to send your daughters to the meat grinders that are our colleges and universities.

Coffee Incident... laughable framing.

It looks like she violently assaulted someone with scalding hot water who was accused of KISSING her teammate.

She did so because she didn’t like that the actual victim got due process due to Title IX reform.

When she faced the SAME DISCIPLINARY PROCESS that her victim had to face... she took her life.

Tragic, but the parents would be better off buying mirrors than retaining attorneys.

That’s how I read it.

I’m guessing that she was a social justice warrior who got all upset over a man kissing a girl without permission. Maybe she tried to dispense some sort of justice by tossing coffee on him while she rode past on her bike. She got caught. She got punished. She was outraged that anyone would dare to punish her for her act of justice and so she took her own life to punish the world for being unfair to her.

Of course, I’m guessing. But this seems like the sort of mentality that some snowflakes have.

The story leaves a lot to be desired. It would be interesting to know how she did it. Was there a suicide note? Did she have a bad romance? Did she have previously known mental issues? I don’t buy the idea that a notice for a hearing drove her over the edge.

It’s just so crazy to do yourself in over something like this. Did she ever take Ritalin or other similar meds? Antidepressants? Maybe the vaxxxx affected her mind. Stanford has been a leader in compulsory Covid vaccinations.

One time I was pouring some boiling water into a bowl, and accidentally spilled a little between my thumb and finger.

Second degree burns, but over a small area. It's fine now, no scars or anything. I was right by the sink and able to get cold water on it quickly, that probably helped.

Lot of stories how Stanford is now ruled with an iron fist. These “investigations” for stupid but harmless behavior. The ending of any on-campus social life outside administrator sanctioned event. When a university creates a bloated bureaucracy, the pencil pushers need to justify their positions. Supposedly the entire atmosphere has crippled Stanford’s football recruiting.

How do we know her death was from suicide?

She was vaxxed, wasn’t she?

Trust but verify.

Sounds like an overreaction by all parties....but Stanford has chosen to create a zero tolerance attitude for any possible, minor infraction. They should be held to the same impossible standard they hold for students.

You MUST be perfect or nefarious motives will be assumed and you will be held accountable. In other words....guilty until proven innocent beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Which BTW is the standard of the juror members on the last jury I served. They had to constantly be reminded it was a “reasonable doubt.”

In context, it sounds like she threw coffee on him not spilled coffee. She believed he had assaulted a teammate and impulsively threw coffee on him.

My wife dumped a large (20oz) cup of hot tea on herself and suffered third degree burns with permanent scarring. In this case, I'd wonder if there were injuries from the coffee.

Also the term “spilled” is ambiguous. Thrown? Poured?

And the incident “tried to kiss” her teammate leaves some description to be desired. He avoided punishment, did he attempt a casual friendly kiss on the cheek? Did he corner the woman, and act aggressively? It seems she was resentful of the verdict

Related to suicide, many victims have “tunnel vision”, the trigger takes up all their focus and attention, and they can see nothing else, not even the pain it will cause their loved ones, friends and family. Suicides in high- pressure school setting, unfortunately, are not particularly uncommon

there is a lot to speculate on this.

women need to be aware of their surroundings and not go to drunken parties, they need to travel in packs for mutual protection, they need to carry self protection devices.

men need to behave like decent men.
