Happy Thanksgiving: Biden Says Sale of Semiautomatic Firearms ‘Has No Social Redeeming Value’

During comments to the press Thanksgiving morning, President Joe Biden criticized the sale of semiautomatic firearms saying it “has no social redeeming value.”

MSNBC published video of Biden saying, “The idea we still allow semiautomatic weapons to be purchased is sick. It has no social redeeming value.”

The lack of the phase ‘social redeeming value’ in the 2nd Amendment notwithstanding, I find the words ‘we still allow semiautomatic weapons to be purchased...’ very troubling. Our Constitution wasn’t set up for the government to allow citizens to do things, it was set up, to Obama’s and Biden’s dismay, to keep the idea of the government’s ‘allowing things’ at bay.

I recently had a short conversation with “a leading expert in school protection”. This person has made millions selling all sorts of “school hardening” stuff to school districts and other things like camera systems, etc. They have made millions doing this. Why heck, they will even help your local politicos put together a bond issue so they get paid.

I said to this person: “Pretend I have $25 dollars, I’m going to buy a plastic gas can, a Bic lighter and I’m going to fill the can up with gas. Then I’m going to find one of the 500,000 school buses and then what?”

I think he means “redeeming social value”, but no matter what he means, the Founding Fathers weren’t worried about guns in the context of social value, redeeming or otherwise.
