Democrat Mary Peltola defeats Sarah Palin in race for Alaska's at-large House seat

Democrat Mary Peltola has won the race for Alaska’s at-large congressional seat, NBC News projected Wednesday, defeating former governor and GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

While the election was held earlier this month, the race was not called for weeks because of Alaska’s new ranked-choice voting system where voters rank the candidates in order of preference.

After the first round of voting, Peltola led Palin by more than 20 percentage points, with Republican Nick Begich, a scion of one of Alaska’s most well-known political families, in third. But because Peltola failed to win more than 50 percent, the voting went to a second round with Begich eliminated and his votes redistributed to those voters’ second choice.

The three-way race was a rematch of a special election held earlier this year. Peltola made history in August, becoming the first Native Alaskan seated in Congress after she won the special election to replace longtime GOP Rep. Don Young, who died in March at the age of 88.

All of these races that were decided well after the election all coincidently were “won” by democrats.

Nothing to see here obviously..

“All of these races that were decided well after the election all coincidently were “won” by democrats.”

Actually, this was won when a well known democrat, Nick Begich, from a powerful Democrat family, reregistered as a Republican and ran to prevent a Republican conservative from winning.

With Ranked Choice voting, the Democrat was much closer to Begich than Palin so the second votes took him over the top.

Sad result when on the first round, well over 50% voted Republican.

If she stays focused on fixing RCV she will have done more than she could do in a democrap House.

Everything and I mean everything Donald John touches in the GOP lately turns to.... well, I won’t say the word.
Same for Murkowski race, another big one tonight in Alaska as well. TshiBAKA (MAGA) defeated.

Two DJT-backed candidates for 2022 to join the other 2022 losers.
Pathetic, totally embarrassing Walker in GA will be next, I predict.

Consequences.

Palin is too polarizing to win a ranked choice vote, as simple as that. The Democrat candidates was also clever and kept on most of Don Young’s old congressional office staff to emphasize she’s “bi-partisan” I wonder if she will fire them all now that she was re-elected (okay, is that cynical of me to think that?)

Don’t be so sure. Brian Kemp is throwing his hat in with Walker for the runoff. If the Dems were able to drag Fetterman across the line, the GOP should be able to do the same with Walker.

there is now a petition to get rid of “ranked choice voting” in Alaska.

I believe Sarah Palin’s signature was the first on that petiton.

this should be a lesson to America: Ranked Choice Voting is bad.

"Republican Nick Begich, a scion of one of Alaska's most well-known political families, in third."

He was the spoiler. Playing the "libertarian" role. For the record we don't need any more "scions of political families". No. Never. We could have had Sarah in congress. But a "scion" spoiled it for her.

Trump has a 93% endorsement win rating. This is dating back to 2018.

He's not responsible for the shenanigans in AZ or AK, or elsewhere where the Rats manipulated the rules and votes.

Winning by the greater number of “second choice” voters— now THAT really makes electoral sense. What sheer lunacy.
