Karelia {a Finnic Republic within the Russian federation}regional deputies ask Putin to issue decree ending mobilization

Two deputies from the Republic of Karelia’s regional parliament have released a letter calling for Vladimir Putin to sign an order officially ending Russia’s mobilization campaign. Their request notes that the absence of such an order is “affecting society’s psychological state and is a source of concern and heightened anxiety in Russian families and workplaces in addition to causing health problems for many children.”

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday that Putin had not yet seen the statement.

On October 28, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu told Vladimir Putin that Russia’s mobilization drive was complete. The Kremlin reported soon after that a decree ending mobilization is not necessary, but in reality, Russia's military commissariats can legally draft people until the president officially declares mobilization over.

Karelia was originally part of Finland and was a finnic area until the Russians grabbed it in 1945 and committed ethnic cleansing.

Today only 7% of the population are ethnic Karelians. 82% are Russians

On the macro level, ie the kong term level, Ukraine won in march by surviving and not becoming a vassal state.

On a lower level everyone loses.

Putin should have withdrawn back to the Donetsk people’s Republic and the Luhansk people’s Republic in April. Right niw he is killing thousands of Ukrainians and Russians by sticking to thus stupid war

Karelia , including Viipuri, Finland second largest city, was demanded by Stalin in Nov 1939

Started Winter War - Finns were able to inflict massive casualties before being overrun in March 1940 and forced to sue for peace Most of the Finn population left

Parallels with Putin grab of Ukraine are eerie

You know that the Istanbul talks were exactly about that and Russia partially pulled out, except Ukraine changed its mind. Now it is until the capitupation of either party. You know which party is going to capitupate.

Putin started this war - way back in 2014 - or one could argue that the plans for it were in 2008, but shelved when it looked like he would get his stooge in power (Yanukowych) and then dusted off and used in 2014.

Then in 2022 he thought the Ukrainians would be the same pushovers they were in 2014.

They weren’t...

Putin should have withdrawn first, rather than go to the peace talks while regrouping the military.

Instead he thought he would get more

But he gambled wrong - and Russia went from controlling this

To this

Putin's only way to have peace talks now is to withdraw from Ukraine completely bar Crimea and hope that Crimea isn't added to the demands.

Don’t you see the contradiction? Is inherent dishonesty inherited by the Ukrainians from your people? Why should Putin care about your perspective?

Exactly - and look at the difference in the quality of life in Viipuri before 1939 and its still higher than the quality of life in Vyborg today

No, dishonesty is a Russian thing.

Your President Putin had no intention of giving up territory in Istanbul, rather for breathing room as his troops were being pushed back. If he really intended peace, the Russians would have withdrawn back to the Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk people’s republic before the “peace talks”

Your President Putin is a liar and that seems a national trait.

LOL. What breathing room? Do you realize that Poland is going to be abolished as a political nation in a five years at this pace? What is your evaluation of Ze clown’s missile surprise? You guys are too dense to catch the idea based on a close call this little. You probably wait for Ze to destroy NPP and end up irradiated.

The CIA rigged the Ukraine election in 2014 against the pro Russia candidate. So who really started it? They’ve been doing this in many places around the world for years.
Just like the Deep State rigged/stole the 2020 election, a coup right here in the U.S.

The CIA didn’t rig the Ukraine election in 2014.

Yanukovich was elected on his promises to seek ascention to the EU and a harder stance on Russia. So the population wanted to distance itself from Russia and seek European ties. Russia was meddling in Ukrainian affairs for decades, with the Orange Revolution happening as a result.

When there was a real development on the EU front, Yanukovich gave in to pressure from Putin and announced that Ukraine is not interested in the EU and he would instead build stronger Russian ties. The people didn’t want that and started to protest.

Then Yanukovich used extreme violence against the protesters. Yanukovich went full “strongman” and sent his Berkut State Police in. It got violent. The next night the crowd doubled and then doubled again. Maidan protests broke out all over the country. Then someone opens fire on protestors from a rooftop and many people died.

That backfired.

Eventually, the parliament cast a vote and kicked him out of his post. That can hardly be called a coup.

Yanukowich ran — After he was gone, documents in his private home indicated that Viotor Yanukovich both received regular bribes from the Kremlin but he also misappropriated Ukrainian public funds. There was a warrant for his arrest issued but it took more than a year to be drafted.

The two separatist groups who sprang up in the Donbas both had Russian Nationals in their leadership. Luhansk had a former Russian Deputy Secretary of Defense as its Defense minister, the Donetsk just drafted a Russian general. These breakaway republics have Russian nationals fighting and all of the latest equipment from the Russian army. Equipment the actual Russian army never actually got.

In the 2014 elections, who do you think was the pro-Russia candidate against whom the elections were rigged?

Your President Putin looked for breathing room in March as his troops were pushed out of Kyiv and the start of the losses were happening.

The Russian federation will dissolve as an entity within the next 5 years thanks to your President Putin.
