I agree, but I would argue that it is usually the states who enforce contract law - not the feds.
I am not sure I agree.
Many more people had dogs in the fight concerning abortion, men and women. Not many straight people, especially men, believe gay marriage is good, much less fight for it. Especially since it was also a states rights issue before SCROTUS forced it on eveyone. Its clear most states didn’t want it than wanted it. So I think it may not take as long.
Good point. They are going after religion wholesale, not just the retail matter of what's called "marriage."

Maybe. but homosexuals and their lobby are fierce, read vicious.
And they now OWN the culture, corporate and esp edu K-12-all academe, even most churches.
There’s a lot of hills.
Could it be the case that America is a land full of hills, and there’s none that are worth dying on.
Well what hill are you willing to defend, Jazz?
You think gov. has no business in the business of marriage? Well they damn sure do, whether it matters to you or not.
You can see the results of the disaster Oberkfell was in every tranny/homo. push in YOUR public schools. “Because its legal now...”
STFU.
Sodomy is one of the four sins that cries to Heaven for vengeance. We have to be opposed to it being normalised and applauded.
Ironically, the Supreme Court got it RIGHT in the Obergefell decision from one critical standpoint that was the underlying basis of the case: the provisions of the U.S. tax code related to married couples are unconstitutional. It is ludicrous for the Federal tax code to recognize marriage when marriage law is administered at the state level.
So many hills to die on.
The pig GOPe senator from Indiana, Todd Young, voted for this. A special place in hell awaits this neocon Bit_h.
You are kidding, right?
Trying to repeal gay marriage will energize the Dem base like abortion did, while not getting the Republican base worked up. Bad political move.
If upending the foundations of civilization isn’t the hill to die on, then nothing is.
“Go along to get along.” Any idiot can do that.
“I don’t care who gets married because their actions don’t cause harm to my family or anyone else if both participants are consenting. I have gay friends who are married and their unions haven’t managed to destroy my own marriage which has been skipping along for going on thirty years now.”
The idiot author fails to realize that the same thing can be said if plural marriage were condoned and legalized. Or incestuous marriage. Or MAP (minor attracted person) marriage. Or marriage to animals. None of these would technically “harm” his/her/its marriage.
They will lose a good portion of the religious rights vote. The GOP offers no reason to vote for them except we’re not Democrats, but in reality they’re exactly that.
I think it’s time for the GOP to die. Trump needs to burn it down and salt the earth beneath it. This party offers nothing to conservatives.
Just like the Tories in the UK: “Gay is good but trans is icky.”
The GOP congress are cowards politically and physically.
“Hill to die on”? How many such “hills” has there been for both parties for how many decades? Did either party die? The two party system always shambles forward through it all. Let’s try to make at least one party be worth voting for.
