Letter from Jennifer Wright, Assistant Attorney General in Arizona, about problems with in person voting
(Excerpt) Read more at azag.gov ...
Trust us, we would never cheat for power.
Yes, more talk, but will there be any action?
Upside down world.
When did in-person voting, become a problem. Everything BUT in-person is the problem.
A week of sternly written memos, letters, and tweets. That’ll fix the problems! /s
Ballots Deposited in Door 3 and Statutorily Required Election Board Close Out Duties
Due to the widespread problems in non-uniform printer configuration settings, many voters were unable to tabulate their ballots on Election Day using on-site tabulators. Instead, voters were instructed to deposit their ballot in “Door 3.” According to statements by Chairman Gates, Recorder Richer, and Maricopa County official communications, “Door 3” ballots were transported to Maricopa County Tabulation and Center to be tabulated by the HiPro 821 or Cannon G1130 tabulators at central count.
Maricopa County appears to have failed to adhere to the statutory guidelines in segregating, counting, tabulating, tallying, and transporting the “Door 3” ballots. In fact, Maricopa County has admitted that. in some voting locations, “Door 3” non-tabulated ballots were commingled with tabulated ballots at the voting location. Further, we have received a sworn complaint from an election observer indicating that more than 1700 “Door 3” non-tabulated ballots from one voting location were placed in black duffle bags that were intended to be used for tabulated ballots.
Pursuant to Arizona law, Maricopa County was required to complete “reconciliation of ballots cast against check ins” at the voting locations before leaving the voting location, not at central count. See A.R.S. §§ 16-564(A), -602(A), -607(A), -608(A),(B), -614, -615(A),(B), and 616; see also 2019 Elections Procedures Manual, Ch. 9 (VIII). Please provide a copy of each voting location’s Official Ballot Report, including any discrepancies in the report and explanations for any such discrepancies.
Please also provide a written statement clarifying the “reconciliation” that appears to have occurred at central count on or around November 16, 2022. Finally, please provide a written report regarding how many ballots were commingled, how many ballots were placed inside the black duffle bags intended for tabulated ballots, how and when Maricopa became aware of the related problems, and how these problems were ultimately resolved.
Arizonans deserve a full report and accounting of the myriad problems that occurred in relation to Maricopa County’s administration of the 2022 General Election. As the canvass is looming, and these issues relate to Maricopa County’s ability to lawfully certify election results – the Unit requests a response to the aforementioned issues on or before Maricopa County submits its official canvass to the Secretary of State, which must occur on or before November 28, 2022. See A.R.S. § 16-642(A).
Yes of course. In-person voting is an Obvious Threat To Democracy.
Considering the lack of any action in the 2020 elections, this one is getting the attention it deserves. So far....
in person, like the way it was intended to be... that kind of in person???
So what form of government uses “black duffel bags” to move ballots from one site to another. It’s straight out of Oceans Eleven.
It’s straight out of Oceans Eleven....
lol
its the democrat way!
The culture among software developers today makes quality secondary to delivering the product on time. They (usually) make a good faith effort to produce good work, but don’t kid yourself: a lot of the people creating software aren’t that smart, and don’t have particularly high standards for their own work. They are used to “letting the customer be the tester”.
This is reason enough to absolutely minimize the use of computer tools in elections, until very high standards are met and proved through exhaustive testing.
This isn’t true only of software today. “Vaccines” developed in haste are forced on the public under the rules of “emergencies”, and in many cases no one knows what the broad effects may be.
In medicine too, we have to recognize that imagined “emergencies” are not sufficient justification to bypass exhaustive testing. And if it must be bypassed, it should be done with ENORMOUS warnings and effort to restrict use to the only the most dire cases that constitute a real emergency. And once the emergency has passed, emergency authorizations should be withdrawn too.
But in some ways, the threat posed by poor election quality is greater than that posed by a pandemic. It enables mistakes in the best case, and cheating in the worst.
No useful protocols exist for dealing with flawed elections.
bkmk
Lock, load, fire, repeat as necessary is a fine protocol to address fraud. Corrupt election officials have homes somewhere in Arizona
Bttt
In person voting became a problem with voter suppression. Republicans show up on election day, Dems vote early or mail in. Create long slow lines on election day, break the tabulators or printers, stuff uncounted ballots in with counted ones, all this disproportionately impacts the people who show up one election day I.e. Republicans. You think it is an accident, liberals think it is a feature. If this happened in minority precincts the press would be on it like green on a John Deere tractor and DoJ would be swarming the place.
Great analysis.
