Qatar bans kosher food, Jewish prayer at World Cup

Authorities in the Arab Gulf state of Qatar are prohibiting Jewish visitors from purchasing cooked kosher food or organizing prayer groups during their stay in the country for the World Cup, leading Jewish groups to accuse Doha of reneging on its promise to protect the religious rights of sports fans during the World Cup.

Qatar has no diplomatic relations with Israel, but as a condition of its hosting the World Cup, FIFA mandated that Qatar not bar fans based on their nationality.

With thousands of Israelis expected to travel to Doha for the games, Qatar agreed to permit Israel to operate a temporary consular services office for the duration of the World Cup.

In addition, Jewish groups say they received a commitment from Doha that Jewish religious needs would not be interfered with during the World Cup, including the sale of kosher food and organizing of Jewish prayer services.

On Sunday, however, multiple Jewish organizations accused Qatar of breaking its promise, saying that local officials have banned the sale of cooked kosher food and organizing of Jewish prayer services in public.

There is plenty of ham and pork in Israel, and even pig farms.


Not all Israelis eat kosher, and there is also a huge population of former Russians / Soviets who identified as Jews to get in, received Israeli citizenship, and who you can now see walking the streets of Tel Aviv securing Christmas trees for Christmas.


Israel is certainly the most diverse country in the middle east. There are tons of whites, blacks, straights, gays, religious, secular people... It's just pretty much a melting pot of all sorts of people.


There is only one thing that is constant about Israel, and that is that the leftist media in the US lies about it constantly, and that when they conduct interviews on the subject those interviews are conducted with so-called "Palestinians," many of whom are not even from "Palestine" or Israel.


I can't tell you how many times I have met (all over the world,) "Palestinians," often with special politically related jobs, with professorships, or on special visas or scholarships, who have never even been to Israel and have no family roots in Israel.


The most recent was a grad student in Canada, a proud "Palestinian," who was in fact from Syria but who "identified" as a "Palestinian." This person, an expert on the "Palestinian" struggle, was completely unfamiliar with Israel or "Palestine," neither politically nor geographically. Neither she nor any member of her family had ever been there or visited there. They were all Syrians.


She was on full benefits, scholarships, and a professorial track. Very serious about the mission to destroy Israel and make the Jews pay for their treachery, their crimes, their lies, murders, etc.

The Qatar govt has reneged on most of its promises to secure the World Cup. In any event the president of FIFA gets to keep his money.

Yes, pork is allowed in Israel. In fact I saw it for sale at our equivalent of SAMs Club.

Obviously not a lot of demand, and if you sell it, most people won’t buy your meat products of any kind, so it’s rare.

Buy there is. I law against it.
