Good evening, TigerHawk...LOL!!

Shavuah Tov to you and yours.

SitRep...it’s still cold downstairs. I go down every couple hours and run the space heater for a couple hours. I even went down once in the middle of the night to run it for an hour. And I’m leaving the garage door open and letting the garage heater help out. Downstairs and garage are separated by a people door.

Sorry...plenty of ducks, at least a 100 tonight. A turkey leg in the crock pot for me for Thanksgiving.

How is your heating issue doing?

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

I KNOW HOW IT IS, BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. YOU DO ALL THAT YOU CAN, MAX EFFORT, AND HOPE IT’S ENOUGH.

MY HEATER IS DOING OK. STABILIZED. IT RUNS A LOT, SO I MANUALLY SHUT IT OFF AT REGULAR INTERVALS. LIKE YOU, THE CONCERN IS THE PIPES. I KEEP THE HOUSE @ 60* +/-, DRIP THE FAUCETS, AND NEVER LET THE HOT WATER PIPES GET BELOW +/- 70*

THAT’S BEEN DOING JUST FINE FOR DAYS. TAKES ATTENTION.

NOT NEAR AS GOOD A SOLUTION AS TAHITI!

BTW, I FIND ROAST DUCK ONE OF MY MOST IRRESISTIBLE TEMPTATIONS.
TURKEY LEG AIN’T BAD EITHER!

KEEP THE FAITH

He drove thru my Island from Buffalo to Niagara Falls, I have friends in Wilson/Cambria area.

Now back south where my friends in Hamburg, West Seneca, Orchard Park etc... Bills stadium is buried with 6-8 feet.
Most of my friends 4-5 or more feet. It’s bad

On Grand Island where we are we have 16-24 inches and that’s too much. Now its 21 degrees and the wind is howling..

screw this, I want to leave now.

Hey there, radu!

No, it never got out of the high 30s today, but since I didn’t have to get out, it was no big deal. It wasn’t windy at all, so when I did go out to feed kitties, it wasn’t awful. Of course that was only for a short time. I AM wearing cords and a heavy sweater to church tomorrow. LOL! It’s going to be in the 60s all week where the kids live, so when we are down there, it’ll be pleasant. I’m only taking a cardigan and maybe a light fleece jacket...my go-to.

Sorry it’s been so cold there. I know you’re really ready for the warm-up, too! Just like when summer starts in April, winter starting in November isn’t fair! LOL! How were things at the museum this weekend?

Are you watching Brandon too? LOL I don’t know how he’s stood all the driving he’s done in that horrid weather. That many hours is rough enough in nice weather and through the conditions he’s in, it’s exhausting.

I can’t believe how much snow has been dumped up there! And more coming tomorrow! I don’t blame you one bit for wanting to get outta there!

That kind of weather is precisely why I won’t live any father north than I am. LOL It can get plenty cold here but we don’t get THAT kind of snow.

What you had today is what we get tomorrow. I stopped at the store on the way home this afternoon to grab a gallon of milk and a couple of other things so I wouldn’t have to do it tomorrow. My hiney is staying inside.

When do you head out to see the kids? Those 60s sound delightful so it’ll help make it a real pleasant visit. I know you’re looking forward to seeing them again.

It was colder on the mountain than down here and I thought I was gonna die putting the flags and open signs out by the highway this morning. LOL The wind was whipping and I couldn’t get done fast enough.
It was very slow this weekend. People are thinking about Thanksgiving and trying to get the shopping done early, I guess, and the museum wasn’t on their minds.

This morning a man showed up with his grandson. I’d seen him there before a few times but he always ended up with someone else for tours. Today I got him, though it really wasn’t a tour. He was there to see his father’s uniform with had recently been put on a mannequin to display.

His father was a medic during WWII and travelled all over Europe during the two years he was over there. He would send little Nazi flags home to his family whenever they went into a town we’d taken back from the Germans. That was to let them know he was still alive and that we were kicking butt, as his son told me. The flags are at the museum along with the one thing he sent home that has fascinated me since I started working at the museum. It’s a large map of a lot of Europe that he took off the wall of the map room at Hitler’s Eagles Nest. It was a working map, too, because you can still see the markings that were drawn on the map. It’s a rare piece for people to see and it’s fascinated a lot of the visitors we have.
I’m gad I finally got to meet this man and hear the story from him about how his father came to get his hands on the map. It will be part of my tour spiel from here on out.

Good evening, radu, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Is it still freezing in your neck of the woods?

Did you have a good museum day?

Hey there, Kathy.

Yes, still cold and tomorrow will be colder. Then we get a warm-up for next week. WHEW!

It was very slow this weekend at the museum. Yesterday wasn’t too bad because there was a middle school class from Murfreesboro there for a tour. Parker, the boss, got them. I tagged along a little bit to watch their reactions to everything and they had a blast.

Today was dead. Five people all day.

And now I has a sad. I wanted to cry while driving home. Today was the last day open until next April. I’m going to miss weekends up there. :-(

We’ll leave here on Tuesday and then return on Saturday. I’m so looking forward to it. We’re also all driving down south to spend Thanksgiving day with my brother and his family. We haven’t seen them for years. My friend is going to cat-sit for me. Thank goodness. She knows the drill. LOL!

What a wonderful “last” tour for the season. What wonderful stories he had to tell. I’d LOVE to see that map! We actually got to tour the Eagle’s Nest when we lived in Germany and to see some of the “escape” tunnels under the building. It gave off evil vibes, for sure!

Brrrr...just thinking of that mountain wind gave me the shivers! LOL!

Wow, that sounds like a great week ahead and a wonderful Thanksgiving Day for all of you. I'm glad your friend is available to take care of the kitties so you can go.

Yes, if it had to be a dead day today, at least it had a bang to it. I'd only heard a little of the story about how it was acquired from Parker and Mark but now I have so much more info.

So you've been up there, too, have you? We've had a couple of visitors at the museum who have been there as well. They also mentioned feeling the evil vibe.

I've only gotten one shot of the map and it doesn't show the whole thing. It's large and I couldn't get a decent full-frontal shot due to too many reflections in the glass from the overhead lights all over the ceiling.

Yes, that wind was rough yesterday and today. At least Parker had the flags out when I arrived yesterday and he brought them in when we closed. I had both duties today and BRRRR!!! It had also clouded up by closing time so there wasn't that tiny bit of relief from sunshine then.

That is just sooo cool! I envy you meeting all these wonderful military folks and hearing their stories. Nothing like it.

I’m just glad that the weather is going to cooperate for our trip. Sometimes late November can be iffy, with last minute northers or other things to slow us down. Sounds pretty clear and sunny all next week. THEN when we get back, I want some RAIN, darn it! Night before last, I went out and it felt like it was lightly snowing. It was too cold for it to be liquid. But nothing stuck. The sidewalk was slightly wet the next morning.

Meeting the vets and hearing their stories is one of the best things about being at the museum. I’ve found myself totally enthralled more than once.

You got lucky this year and the winter blast hit early and will be out of the way for Thanksgiving.

We won’t be as warm but it’ll still be nice. 50s Monday and Tuesday, 60 Wednesday and Thursday, then we cool off again for the weekend, though not as cold as this week. Well, at least Saturday. We’ll see what tomorrow’s 7-day forecast shows for Sunday tomorrow evening. We’ll get a little rain Thursday evening into Friday but not much. We’re desperate for it. There was a wildfire yesterday not too far from here and it was smoky. I saw the smoke all across the lowlands when I was coming down the mountain so it must have been a pretty big one. Still a little hazy today but nothing like yesterday.
