Time for Ukraine to talk to Russia? ‘Nuts!’
Politico ^ | 18th November 2022 | James Dettmer

Posted on 11/19/2022 2:57:12 AM PST by Cronos

No one wants to sit down with foes who bomb their homes indiscriminately and target their energy infrastructure, plunging households into darkness and forcing surgeons in hospitals to perform operations by torchlight.

And as the remains of civilians tortured by Russian soldiers occupying the southern city of Kherson are unearthed, the cold fury Ukrainians felt at the documented abuses — from rape to casually gunning down non-combatants in Bucha and Irpin — only intensifies.

.... Nuts!” also fairly sums up the reaction of “ordinary” Ukrainians I spoke with this week, as to whether they would endorse peace negotiations — and whether they’d be willing to trade any land in the Donbas, or the whole of Crimea, for peace.

Yuliya Grigor, whose soldier husband is currently undergoing treatment for severe shell shock, said Ukraine can win this fight, if the West stays true and constant. The 35-year-old charity worker, who is from Mauripol but now lives in Lviv, said, “Russians don’t understand that however many missiles they throw at us, we won’t give in, surrender or negotiate. And they can’t divide us.”

“We don’t have anything to talk about. Putin doesn’t understand Ukraine is a separate, sovereign country and is united. Anyway, he doesn’t even know the meaning of the word peace. So, there is no sense in talking with them,” she added. ...

Yuliya isn’t alone in her vehemence. I interviewed a dozen others in the underground parking lot of a Lviv shopping mall that now serves as a bomb shelter...

“I disagree, and there can be no talks, no agreements because Russia will always break any deals; you can’t trust them. All countries recognized Ukraine’s borders in 1991, and this is our country."

Russians are cowardly a-holes

their conduct in this unnecessary war (and the fact they started it in the first place) is just more confirmation

NATO could have refrained from "peacekeeping" (taking sides) in the Balkans. They could have said no to Clinton's wag the dog bombing of Serbian factories (which had noi connection to the military). They could have said no to Madaleine Albright's ancient hatred of the Serbs. But instead they went along as a complete tool of the US.

Once NATO became an aggressor taking the side of Mulsim terrorists, it was a threat.

Ukraine, you are not actually a sovereign nation if another nation has to not only foot the bill for your war and supply the weapons but also has to pay to keep your entire country’s economy afloat.

Between 1778 and 1782 the French provided supplies, arms and ammunition, uniforms, and, most importantly, troops and naval support to the beleaguered Continental Army. The French navy transported reinforcements, fought off a British fleet, and protected Washington’s forces in Virginia. French assistance was crucial in securing the British surrender at Yorktown in 1781.

We will fight this proxy war until the last Ukrainian and Putin is removed from office. We will continue to borrow billions of dollars to send to Ukraine without limit. We will continue to deplete our war reserves of arms and supplies even at the risk of our own national security. We will do this for as long as it takes until “victory” is achieved. We will follow Zelensky who is the only person that can decide when the war is over.

And when the war is over we are committed to borrowing the hundreds of billions of dollars necessary to rebuild Ukraine and secure their border. We will make any sacrifice and bear any burden to defend Ukraine even at risk of losing our own. In the meantime, hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens are flooding into our country every month. Our national debt is over $31 trillion. The annual debt servicing costs are $400 billion and expected to reach a trillion dollars a year by the end of the decade. Medicare and Social Security represent an unfunded liability of $200 trillion. The Medicare Trust Fund (HI) is exhausted in 2028 and the SSTF in 2033. A hard rain is going to fall. Never matter, our top priority is defending Ukraine.

You aren’t fighting this war.

The USA isn’t fighting this war.

The Ukrainians are fighting to kick out the invaders from their lands. Invaders who raped and pillaged their loved ones.

The USA us only, reluctantly, giving them the means to fight off the jnvaders

Canuck is correct

“Zelensky could be replaced tomorrow and it would make no difference ... Ukrainians know Russia is trying to destroy their country, so they HAVE to fight back”

The carthaginians in the 3rd punic war were invaded by Rome and Rome had the explicit intent of eradicating Carthage.

The Ukrainians aren’t like the carthaginians because they didn’t invade Russia, rather Russia invaded them.

And Russia is no rom, it is getting pushed back steadily

Our involvement with Ukraine goes way beyond assistance. We have subsumed their entire country. We have subsumed their economy. We are in charge and we are carrying out this war for our own selfish benefit(For our elites) to the detriment of The Ukrainian people. We don’t care what happens to them. By the way, The American government doesn’t seem to care what happens to Americans very much either. In your example, our fight with The British was our fight. The French didn’t shove us into that war. Sit at the head of the Negotiating table and negotiate us into that war. I believe America is just as much to blame for this war as The Russians.

That was the case for the USSR and to an extent the UK during world war two. Do you think they weren’t sovereign?

Nope, Yanukovych had tried to sell his country to pu.

Yanukovych failed and ran to Moscow. Putin invaded and grabbed a chunk of Ukraine

“Russians are cowardly a-holes”

The only “cowardly a-holes” here are those that continue to deny that the Kyiv Regime is a Nazi regime as are people in the West who support it.

“Here’s Olga Lakunova, a Ukrainian and former captive, who says in LIVE Ukrainian TV that she thinks the first thing Ukraine should do is kill all Russians, “even small children,” and calls for an ethnic cleansing to ensure every Russian is wiped out.”
