Attorney General Merrick Garland on Friday named a special counsel to investigate the entirety of the criminal probe into the unlawful retention of national defense information at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, Fox News has learned.
Garland appointed former Justice Department official Jack Smith to the role. Smith, a former assistant U.S. attorney and chief to the DOJ's public integrity section, will oversee the investigation into Trump's retention of classified documents after leaving the White House and whether the former president obstructed the federal government's investigation into the matter.

Get ready for another Mueller type report where “they can’t say he did, but they can’t say he didn’t” so the commies can forever claim that “there’s no proof DJT DIDN’T do it.
It seems our countries future is nothing but legal crap. If they can bury President Trump like this, we are all certain to die in future legalese.
Smith likely has no integrity.
As shown most recently by accepting the harassment appointment.

Everybody does something wrong sometime. The trick is to magnify this wrong-doing into a major malfeasance or even felony.
Repeated assertions that a crime, some crime, no matter how minor or innocuous, has been committed, by somebody, over and over, is enough for the court of public opinion. Get all the fools on your side and you have the majority in any venue.

The Attorney General has demonstrated many times that he is not very bright, but this will be the mistake that will ultimately destroy the dims.
If he were smart, he would try to make peace with the republican majority in the house. This move will only inflame them and as a result there will be investigations of everything the dims have done before and since Trump was elected in 2016. Since repubs are naturally laid back, the dims are stupid to get them stirred up.

Next up, Trump will be under investigation for what he remembers, while president, that is endangering national security.
