Canada's Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan said on Thursday it will be writing down about $95 million of investments it had made in bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX Group by the end of the year.

Yep! No coincidence that a liberal organization put money into the racket that was giving money to liberal political candidates.
You’re right. The regular teachers are the ones going to be hurt by it.
But it was the insiders and hacks at the top of the union who were probably hobnobbing with liberal elites who were telling them where to put the money... because you know, it would help the cause. wink wink

Not a big fan of that pension fund. They own tons of malls and inner city commercial rentals out West and charge greedy amounts for rents. Ridiculous amounts. And they rather see these properties vacant than lower their prices. They don’t even bother to send anyone out to remove store names that have gone out of business.
Still BLOWS MY MIND that Ukraine winds up in the middle of this. Can’t we have just one scandal WITHOUT Ukraine involved?

Teachers are the biggest suckers out there. I guess they are forced to agree with everything they’re told in their training in order to get work.
A friend’s daughter (38) is a high school teacher. She was telling me a few years back about one of her students who wanted to be known as the opposite sex. We got into a few topics, including hermaphroditism. This is what the “educated” teacher told me:
“Actually, one out of every ten babies born has both genitalia. What happens is the doctors will whisk the baby away, perform a quick surgery, then return the baby to the mother, without saying anything.”
I couldn’t believe what I heard, and just laughed. I asked her who told her that whopper and she said those were Ministry of Education numbers. So, the parents just say nothing when their baby is whisked away or returned. And the parents don’t notice their baby has been cut up and stitched up? And how do they decide which gender to select? I went on for a bit and she got the message, but this is a so-called intelligent person. Scary how malleable teachers actually are.
Teacher’s Unions are evil. Too bad, I really don’t feel sorry for them.
DICK Durban asked whether he would give the money back sez he’s going to donate it to charity, so lets get this straight, investors money was used by this little pr### to finance rat a##es, it goes belly up and Durban is supposedly going to take this donated cash from unknown investors and give it away to charity. Are you fn kidding?
Those investment funds should be moved over to multi family properties like the company that I work for (it’s privately owned): 95% leased, southeast states, and exceptionally well run.
That’s going to leave a mark.

My wife worked for a company that collected rents across the city. They also ran a fund like you are describing. Big money investors investing in multi-location rental properties. They got a real good bang for their money. The only real risk as far as I could see is too many bad renters.
Will they also write off the obvious kickback to the decision maker?
When folks on the web were talking up ‘crypto’ I asked if they got any tulip bulbs in change.
