HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -- The ongoing fight against the effects of climate change took centerstage at the Honolulu City Council on Thursday.
In the past, the council’s Zoning and Planning Committee has drafted bills surrounding coastal erosion and climate change. But lawmakers are now looking at creating comprehensive legislation focused on shoreline development.
In an informational briefing, climate experts offered a presentation showcasing the long-term impact of global warming on coastlines throughout Oahu.
In Ewa Beach, for example, models show wave inundation of 4 feet in the next 70 years.
Dr. Chip Fletcher, interim dean of the University of Hawaii-Manoa School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, calls sea level rise “an unstoppable reality.”
“Ultimately, we are looking at a statewide, in fact, a worldwide retreat from the shoreline of significant proportion,” Fletcher said.
Councilmembers say the presentation underscored the urgent need to hone in on solutions and take a proactive approach in adjusting to sea level rise.
“I got a little horrified and scared,” said councilmember Calvin Say. “The presentation was a doomsday presentation for all of us to recognize. Setbacks is one issue, but there are more other issues we have to contend with.”
Kauai and Maui counties already have rules in place based on future coastal erosion models.
Over the next several months and into the new year, the city is planning to gather more feedback from community stakeholders and neighborhood boards throughout Oahu.

Serious concern would be to plan for the removal of all manmade infrastructure, hazmat, corrosives, asphalt (petrochemicals), completely strip those flood zone areas down.
Wouldn’t that require petroleum fuel to accomplish? Yes it would.
Since we care so much about the planet, one would think there would be discussions along these lines. Haven’t heard a peep.

The seas and oceans will be said to be rising everywhere except where liberal hypocrites have purchased beachfront properties. At those sites a new, complex Climate Algore-ithum will be announced. This new Algore-ithum will explain the relationship between feeeeeelings about the environment, and how these feeeeeelings impact the sea levels near their homes on the Kwanzaa Kwantum level. Any challenges to the Kwanzaa Kwantum physics will be labeled...yes....racist.

The deserts of the western United States were once underwater. Ice sheets several times in recent geological history have covered most of the continental US. Hawaii itself was underwater until volcanic eruptions produced the islands.
The earth’s geology has been changing since the earth formed and will continue to change if all life is removed. Land will rise and sink. Temperatures will rise and fall. Continents will move. Rain and wind will erode mountains. Ocean currents will create beaches and sweep them away. Volcanos will burn the land and fill the atmosphere with ash which in turn will block the sun and cool the surface. The poles will flip causing massive changes. Huge flares from the sun, or errant asteroids may hit the earth and destroy most life.
Only the most foolish human beings believe man cam stop climate change.

It is the nature of how the islands were formed. They need to map it for 10,000 years for perspective.
It would be amusing except that the billions that will be spent on this fraud won’t be available to fix bridges, build hospitals, etc.

The solution is to throw $billions down Kilauea's throat to appease the gods of climate change.
Conservatives should 100% support carbon taxes and regulations at the city level. That is where most Demonrats live. Most CO2 emissions are done on behalf of high spending city dwellers. The rats already have a supermajority in every city and can pass any nutball thing they like. Big cities have larger populations than the states did when they were formed. Give leftists enough rope and they will hang themselves everytime.
