The Senate advanced legislation that would provide federal protections for same-sex marriage.
With the backing of 12 Republican members, the Senate easily cleared the 60-vote procedural hurdle needed to move the legislation forward.
The Republicans who voted to advance the bill are:
Roy Blunt-Missouri; Richard Burr-North Carolina; Shelley Moore Capito-West Virginia; Joni Ernst-Iowa; Cynthia Lummis-Wyoming; Lisa Murkowski-Alaska; Rob Portman-Ohio; Dan Sullivan-Alaska; Mitt Romney-Utah; Thom Tillis-North Carolina; and Todd Young-Indiana.

I’m not necessarily opposed to protections, what I am opposed to is calling it marriage, it should have remained a civil union.

A nation that sanctions abomination is under condemnation and headed for damnation. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. (Psalms 9:17)

A little research on the Sergeant shows that it gets more extensive, as the devil works to pervert all that God ordained, and to our good. May they all come to salvation in Christ:
RADfertility As we celebrate #VeteransDay, it is our honor to introduce you to Tech Sergeant Bryanna Dahl, her wife, Lauren and their amazing RAD baby Bennett! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 Currently stationed at the Dover Air Force Base, Sgt. Dahl just celebrated 7 years wearing this uniform! We had the privilege of helping their family grow and following their journey to Bennett also known as “Bennie.” On this day, we share our endless gratitude to those who serve and have served our country along with the supportive families behind them.

The Obergefell decision was a travesty. That being said, it isn't ever going to be reversed. It's a done deal.
So if that is understood, this action makes sense politically. No reason to let the Democrats play the "Republicans will get rid of gay marriage card", which is an issue for Gen Z. This will take that issue off the table, and maybe let us compete a bit better for Gen Z votes.
Again, I don't think it should be called marriage either, but that ship has sailed and isn't coming back anyway.
To: FlingWingFlyer
Supposedly, the act includes provisions to protect the civil liberties of those opposed to Deviant Marriage types. You and I know just how long those provisions will last.

No one will convince me that the Federal government needs to be involved in the institution of marriage.
Remove all the tax crap and go with a flat tax. The federal government should NOT be involved in this-—it’s between me, my spouse and God.

So what is going to be the administrative costs to the American taxpayer for this Jiffy Lube Act?

Wow, IF THEY CAN CHANGE NATURAL LAW.. Why don’t they try to change some thermo dynamic laws. Like WHY NOT PASS THAT the temperature that water freezes be lowered to 22 degrees. The folks in Florida and Texas would appreciate being able to grow citrus and now have the cold ruin their plants.

I think the US will have polygamy within 5 years.
This slippery slope is only getting steeper.

Actually I thought Ogerfell (USSC?), legalized same sex marriage? From what I read, this is another mis-named bill by the democrats. It actually persecutes religious organizations that will not participate in same sex marriages.. Allows the IRS to revoke tax exempt status, shut down church day cares, and allow lawsuits against private organizations that do not participate in same sex marriages (like baking a wedding cake)....
Probably unconstitutional, but the Dems don’t care.

Respect for Marriage Act In keeping with Congressional traditions the name of the act is the exact opposite of the intent and function of the bill.
