Texas GOP poll shows DeSantis defeating Trump by 11 points in hypothetical primary

A new survey from the Texas Republican Party has Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) defeating former President Trump by 11 points in a hypothetical match-up.

Among voters likely to participate in a 2024 presidential primary in Texas, 43 percent said they would support DeSantis and 32 percent said they back Trump, according to the survey results.

DeSantis, a rising star in the Republican Party who has flirted with a 2024 White House bid, continues to gain ground in hypothetical match-ups against the former president.

Texas GOP Chairman Matt Rinaldi tweeted his support for DeSantis after the Florida governor cruised to reelection last week.

Its a four year term, but yeah, DeSantis is just a kid in political age, he’s a youngster.

Trump is 8 years older than when he ran the first time in 2016. DeSantis will be older than JFK, Obama and Slick Willy.

However, if you’re a Republican who wants to defeat Trump in 2024.

Think, if you were Gov. DeSantis would you want to inherit the mess Biden has made? Would you want to be stuck trying to fix it?

It would be a monumental task that perhaps could not be done. If Biden’s mess could not be turned around he’d be a one-term president.

It makes a bit more sense to consolidate your leadership and then run after being a successful governor.

DeSantis has said so much both publicly and privately.

Disantis needs to be careful he doesn't get pegged as a stooge of the rino scum. He will never win a national election if he is seen as an anti Trump tool. I'm tired of hearing people say Trump should step aside. If he steps aside millions of his supporters will step aside too. These people are doing exactly what the democrats and rino’s want.

I respect and admire fightin’ Donald Trump. Still, I prefer DeSantis. Trump is too chewed up by the filthy DOJ, FBI, and the media to be effective. And he is too old.
