PHOENIX – Four days after the Arizona U.S. Senate race was called, Republican challenger Blake Masters congratulated Sen. Mark Kelly on his victory.
“I called and congratulated Mark Kelly this morning,” Masters said in a statement Tuesday. “There were obviously a lot of problems with this election, but there is no path forward in my race.”
Masters was referring to tabulation issues for in-person voters at around 70 vote centers in Maricopa County on Election Day, Nov. 8.
He joined a lawsuit with gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and the Republican National Committee to keep the polls open three extra hours, but a judge rejected the request.
Maricopa County officials said the problem was addressed within hours and everyone was able to vote.
The Associated Press projected that Kelly would retain his seat after results were updated Friday night. The incumbent’s victory helped Democrats retain control of the Senate.
On Saturday, Masters said he would make sure “every legal vote is counted” and congratulate Kelly if he came out on top.
As of Tuesday afternoon, when Masters released his congratulatory statement, Kelly had a lead of more than 124,000 votes with no more than around 40,000 ballots left to be counted statewide.
Masters, a venture capitalist making his first run for office, emerged from a crowded Republican primary field on the back of an endorsement from former President Donald Trump. But like Lake, Arizona secretary of state nominee Mark Finchem and many other Trump-back GOP candidates, general election voters rejected Masters.
“To the thousands of people who helped on my campaign, who made calls, knocked on doors, wrote postcards, donated and hosted events — thank you,” Masters said Tuesday.

Blake is young, my guess is they offered him something... big, like you will get your turn if you just capitulate now, here is a nice job... and we have plenty of lead if you don’t like silver... Really would have like to see him hold out for the full audits and recounts and would take his lead from Lake. A guessing on my part, but the depth of the fraud, would have been plenty because all the fraud was against BOTH him and lake.
He did the right thing...That’s what you do. Be a gentleman.
Expect Brnovich or Ducey to go after Sinema’s seat in 2024.
Not quite sure why Blake would do that since Leo Donofrio has found a way to annul the election.
Why bend the knee and concede?
I disagree. You don’t congratulate a cheater.
Oh how nice...Bless Your heart.
I wouldn’t give the dems the sweat off my balls.
If you are ever in a bank when it is robbed, remember to congratulate the robbers.
“Be a gentleman.”
Why quit before it’s over?
Laxalt in Nevada has also publicly conceded
There is a clear effort to disenfranchised in person voters that happen to be 72% Republican
He should have said, “I want to congratulate our next senator, “BOX 3”
Agree.
And to Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump, who failed to provide me with funds I desperately needed to win...
We have the best, most gracious losers, don’t we folks?
There is also an Asian canidate who is an office holder.
ROTFLOL!!!
Let's get Orly Taitz on the case as well! Where's Lucas "Inspector" Smith these days?
We can bring out all the big guns!
We'll take this Senate after all!
Kelly is leading by 125,233 votes, there are 42,286 ballots left statewide. It’s impossible for him to win now. It’s over.
