At least two dead after Russian missiles land in NATO state Poland on Ukraine border

The Prime Minister of Poland has called an emergency meeting following the explosion.

Two people have been killed in Poland after two stray Russian rockets landed near the border with Ukraine.

The rockets landed in the NATO state following Russia's mass bombardment of Ukrainian cities earlier today, which saw over 100 rockets launched.

According to the AP news agency, a senior US intelligence official said that the missiles were of Russian origin.

Poland's Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, has convened the Committee of the Council of Ministers for National Security and Defense Affairs "as a matter of urgency", government spokesman Piotr Müller confirmed, with local news sites claiming this is likely the result of the explosions.

The rockets fell in the town of Przewodów, hitting grain dryers. The police, prosecutor's office and the army are reportedly already on the site.

Meanwhile, Polish Armed Forces are reportedly on "high alert".

Some analysts have suggested the rockets' intended target may have been Lviv, a Ukrainian city about 100km south of Przewodów.

“I said MISSILE silos you idiot!”

I’m guessing large wars have been started because of less. IIRC, Hitler justified his bombing of civilian areas in London because on a early bombing raid an errant Allied bomb hit some farmer’s barn.

Can we get a statement from the FR Russia-supporters?

Probably something like "they're just Poles, and they were next in the list anyway.

Not Article 5 stuff, but a good reason to up the supply of things with which the Ukrainians can shoot down anything Russian that flies.

At the end, the Kaiser was almost begging his advisors for a way to stop the coming slaughter

And to think that all he had to do was declare, "I think now is not the right time to rape poor little Belgium!"

It was a lot more complex than that. There were the mobilization timetables. More intricate than a Swiss watch. If you were going to mobilize, you had to mobiilize.

Only years later did I figure out that Klingon General Chang was the "dad" in Sound of Music. Christopher Plummer singing Sound of Music songs dressed as a Klingon would have made an excellent Saturday Night Live or Mad TV skit...

WWIII? But who are the good guys?

Apparently there aren't any good guys. Certainly none of the players in this garbage are.

Yeah but they were out after us with their Wagner greenies. A dozen Green Berets , forty Jarheads and air, arty coordination gave them a shock. Seems the Russkies haven’t learned about that yet.

Yep! Perhaps you have to be {our} my age to wonder about such things. The D.C. war complex may be salivating; they have been mumbling about a nuclear war with Russia.

I like the Moody Blues song on your home page. 👌

Well, if General Chang could quote Shakespeare (from the original Klingon), he could surely sing Rodgers and Hammerstein.

But who are the good guys?

Not playing in the game.

Sort of like WWI, where there were not bad guys at the start, here there are no good guys.

unforgivable, just because there a 30k Polish troops fighting the Roooskies and Poland is the main hub for weapons for Ukraine is no excuse for those darn Ruskies to plop a missile on their border. I mean, that is just not fair.

The Ukes use Russian SAMs. Probably this was a S-300 straying over the Polish border by means of accident or intentional provocation. Though I doubt it was an accident but can’t rule it out of course.

The conflict as presently framed will inevitably lead to a Russian victory. All the Russians have to do is mobilize (which they are) to completely overwhelm the Ukrainian forces. As Russian is mobilizing the West is developing Ukraine fatigue, and Europe in particular has more pressing issues this winter than the conflict in Ukraine.

The Atlanticist interests behind NATO and the EU would rather widen the war (which will also wash away ‘Ukraine fatigue) and take their chances than permit Russia to walk away from this conflict smelling like a rose, which they are set to do as things are now.

Oh I was told it was pretty heavy. I just posted because sometimes shrapnel happens and awry coords.
I just don’t want to see NATO getting involved.

Mobilisation is one of the excuses made.
There is a difference between mobilising and invading neutral Belgium. It doesn’t require any more to supply your army and keep them in the field when mobilised and sitting on the border than it does when they charge off and murder civilians in a neutral neighbour.

The plan had been formed years before, a lightning strike through Belgium to Paris, to knock France out of the war before Russia overwhelmed them to the east. I’m not employed by the Kaiser’s government to make apologies for their war plans, but they were what they were. The Russians were mobilizing, the French were mobilizing, Germany was left with no choice but to mobilize. The plans were graven in stone at that point, and there was no changing them then. The orders had to be issued, the plans set in motion, and there was absolutely no way to “slightly modify” them.

They did finally get around to altering the plan, after the forces were mobilized and in the field. The Elder Moltke’s dying words years before had been “Keep the right strong,” and they ignored his advice, weakened their strong right hook through Belgium to redeploy divisions to the east against Russia, and they never made it to Paris.
