Inflation driving more than half of Gen Z to live with their parents

America's youngest generation of adults is struggling to pay their bills while more than half have opted to live with their parents due to high inflation and uncertainty over the economy, according to a new study.

A poll released Tuesday conducted by The Harris Poll and commissioned by DailyPay found 54% of Gen Zers ages 18-25 are living with their folks, with 80% of respondents saying they expect the economy will either remain that same or decline over the next year.

With inflation still hovering around 8% and remaining near a four-decade high for months, the data indicates Gen Zers are concerned about their current and future financial security.

A mere 28% of respondents in early adulthood said they are typically able to pay all their bills on time, and 41% said they are worried that paying their bills will become even more difficult over the next 12 months due to high inflation. Some 38% say they expect it to become more challenging to pay for staples like food and fuel.

Seventy-eight percent of respondents said they have either not been able to save as much money this year as in 2021, or saved around the same amount – which was sometimes nothing at all.

How about this? “If you voted DemocRAT, get the Hell out of my house.”

I’ve long since cut ties with my step-daughters. They both turned into little Commies. I unfriended my eldest because I got sick of seeing my social media cluttered with crap about being an “Ally”. I didn’t bother to say anything. Just cut ties.

That why the bastards all vote for RATs. They’re afraid their parents will tell them to get a job and get the hell out.

My 20 and 24 year old sons are both living at home. And at this point we have no idea when they will move out. But they aren’t liberal. They both voted straight red down the ballot.

"Our son, 22, is fully employed and a full-time student at the local State University. We said he could live at home during this time of his life in order for him to have Zero Debt when he graduates."

We did the same for our kids, including paying for their school as long as they made a career plan first and did research outside the school to see what training was good for their careers. Two got a BS and two got vocational training. While in school, two of them worked full time and asked me to invest their money for them. All 4 of them left debt free and 2 of them had decent sized Roth 401K/traditional 401K and Roth IRA balances when they left.

How else are they going to afford the latest smart phone, flat screen TV, XBOX, concert tickets and new car?

C’mon man!

You could not LIVE in Cambridge today with the $35K stipend you would get from Harvard. A two bedroom apartment in Cambridge is $3500/month.

My son was offered a PHD program two years ago from GA Tech. The stipend was $31K/year. He told me Harvard/BU/MIT were all around the same.

He now works for a major Pharma corp outside the 495 beltway.
He is moving in with a buddy and paying $1200/month two share a two bedroom condo. He makes just under six figures. He was paying $1750/month for a one bedroom apartment in the Nashoba Valley of MA.

The ability to terminate a baby is apparently more important than the prosperity of the nation.

Any numbers for how many Boomer parents are thinking of selling the house and moving far away because they figure it’s the only way to get their Gen Z kid to move out of the basement and get a life?

That’s BS as far as I am concerned. Gen Z has no drive to make anything of themselves and want to live with their parents as it requires accepting no responsibilit for their own lives. If they are ever kicked out of their parents house, they will transition to the government as pseudo parents. You have heard of the greatest generation, this is the least generation

We did the same for our kids. The Millennials did all right, and they all have families, great careers, and nice homes now. Better homes than ours, to be honest. But the Gen Z kid: he graduated from college, moved back home “just while looking for a job,” and now he’s dug in like a tick. There is something *different* about the Gen Z mindset that I just can’t understand, and neither can his older siblings.

This is why the economy isn’t affecting the vote.

A large chunk of the voters aren’t feeling it.
