Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was quick to troll Republican Arizona gubernatorial contender Kari Lake after the latter was projected to lose her race to Democratic rival Katie Hobbs.
Within minutes of the race being called on Monday, Cheney sent a smug tweet, responding to a weeks-old public letter from Lake thanking Cheney for opposing her campaign.
"You're welcome," Cheney said in a tweet that also tagged Lake's account.
Weeks earlier, Cheney appeared in a pricey ad urging voters in Arizona to reject Lake and Mark Finchem, the Republican nominee for Arizona secretary of state who also was declared the loser in his contest. Both Lake and Finchem were backed by former President Donald Trump and pushed claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.
âI donât know that Iâve ever voted for a Democrat, but if I lived in Arizona, I absolutely would,â Cheney said in the ad from the Great Task, a multicandidate PAC sponsored by the congresswoman. âIf you care about the survival of our republic, you cannot give people power who will not honor elections.â
Lake then tweeted out a letter thanking Cheney for what she said was a "generous in-kind contribution" to her campaign.
Cheney fell out of favor with many in her party with her criticism of Trump and her role as vice chairwoman of the Jan. 6 committee.
The congresswoman, who is the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, was defeated in her primary but stayed in the national spotlight in the general election cycle of the midterm elections, including backing Democrats. There are whispers among Democrats that they might vote for her as speaker when it comes up for a vote on the floor next month. The woman who defeated Liz Cheney in the primary, Harriet Hageman, won her general election contest for the at-large district in Wyoming.
Cheney lost. Loser Cheney lives in the muck.
She has joined forces with America's enemies.
Cheney is a bottom feeding, treasonous biatch. Real scum.
She dunks? Haha. She’s no longer in the game. Riding the bench while her war monger father gets closer to death.
Lake set herself up for it. She got cocky, and it came back to bite her in the backside.
Hate to say it, but I agree. You don’t mess with the deep state.
There is no clearer example of the classy humility of Kari Lake and the bitter sarcasm of Liz Cheney.
And our side wants to make friends with those that constantly attack us. No thanks, give me a fighter.
“Cheney fell out of favor with many in her party...”
Love this.
SHE WAS CENSURED BY THE STATE REPUBLICAN PARTY FOR GOING AGAINST THE WISHES OF HER CONSTITUENCY.
This is a pretty clear indication that Liz Cheney IS FOR Liz Cheney, not FOR the people she is supposed to represent.
If she were a little more humble she might not have issued that letter and wouldn’t be dealing with this now.
I'd rather people act like winners and lose, than win and act like losers, like most of the GOP party.
Is Liz Cheney a Republican? Why is she GOTV for Marxists in the Democrat Party? Houston, we have a problem here and it’s not Lake.
Instead of being indignant at how election (counting) was run, she does this🙄
Liz represents all that is wrong with the Republican party. They campaign on being conservative but end up being liberals. If a Democrat does that Pelosi and Schumer will make sure they never get elected to another office.
That’s actually too nice a word for her. And it is funny that she is crowing about Lake’s loss by less than a percent when Cheney lost by over 40%. Tone deaf, characterless idiot who was once my rep. Unfortunately it appears that my new senator, Loomis, may be following in Cheney’s shadow, but too early to tell. If that is the case, I will have zero senate representation with Loomis and Barrasso so my only rep will be Hagerman — unless she also drinks the water.
