Christy Smith concedes to Mike Garcia in CA27, Giving Republicans control of the House with 218 seats. Real Clear Politics has GOP with 217 seats, but still has not called Garcia's win even though CBS in CA has called it and Smith has conceded. https://twitter.com/ChristySmithCA/status/1591871847125377024

If the House is populated by Deep State-controlled myrmidons, what difference does the letter after name make?

Good question. Obviously, it is not completely one way or the other.

The Republicans (even RINOs) would not have passed the trillions in excess spending the Biden admin did.

The Republicans (even RINOs) would not federalize control of elections, and eliminate any controls on who votes, with mandatory mail in ballots nationwide.

We may get some pushback against the insane propaganda committee hearings Pelosi has been pushing.

We will have to see.

It is getting harder for RINOs to get away with shenanigans they performed with impunity only 10 years ago.

Remember, Paul Ryan campaigned as a "conservative", then he backstabbed us and his constituents after Trump was elected. He is no longer in the House.

McCain showed his true colors when he voted to keep Obamacare after dozens of promises to get rid of it.

Probably the biggest thing a Republican House does, is keep the current Supreme Court in place, instead of packing the court.

Oh please. Don’t go cutting him down already. That’s why we rarely win...we’re too busy attacking each other.

Well at least we got rid of nearly all the “Impeached Trump” level RINOs this time. There will always be a range, but we got rid of a fair chunk of the worst this time.

Pelosi gone. Consider. And at her age, unlikely to regain the Speaker role.

Yeah, probably only brushes his teeth every other day.

We don't need him to represent us, we want pure people like the majority of CA reps in the house, and in the state legislature, and the gov, and every other elected statewide officer in this state.

“Not sure what makes Garcia a RINO... his policy positions, including voting NOT to certify the 2020 election and life-at-conception legislation sponsorship, sound pretty MAGA-ish to me.”

Fuhgettabout it. Whenever a Republican is mentioned on FR, it is mandatory that Freepers pop up and start chanting ‘RINO’.

I just hope the GOP doesn't split the vote for Speaker and hand the reins back over to Pelosi. Far-fetched? Won't happen? ... anything is possible with the GOP, the "Keystone Kops" of politics.

Yep... completely without basis. The only possible "RINOish" stance Garcia might have taken was his position on "gay marriage," but Trump didn't oppose it either. It appears Garcia's policy positions are pretty well aligned with those of Trump.

If we have control by just one vote, EVERY Republican must stick together in order to slow down the (up to now) relentless march towards communism. Every single one of them.

Some have suggested a nomination of Trump of Speaker... I’d like to see either him or Kari Lake in that position.

FYI:

Garcia replaced Katie Hill who resigned because of a sex scandal. He originally was rep for CA25 and was gerrymandered to CA27 for this election. He beat Christy Smith 2 years ago for CA25..

Most likely, the final will be R-221 and D-214.

Was there an alternative in his district? If RINOs are what you have, you choose the RINO over the frothing-at-mouth Dem nutbag.

Pelosi will retire—rumor is that she is going to become a student of the many uses of hammers in the home...

Paul—hope you can run fast!

Something like your comment is the first thing I thought of. I am positive that D operatives are researching the new R reps and looking for financial vulnerability, alcoholism, or other social weaknesses in their past. The operatives may also take pictures of a reps family when away from home. This may result in a visit to the new R rep where the topic is ‘nice family youse got here - be a shame if something happened’.

Then on any bills that the left really wants to pass, it will only take a few of these ‘visits’ to swing a few votes to the left.

The House has nothing to do with SCOTUS justices. That’s the Senate’s job.

Pretty sure if they keep counting the votes long enough, that the Democrats will control the house, the senate and every other elected office in the United States.

But a law to change the amount of justices on the Supreme Court would have to pass both houses.

There are simply not enough republicans in the House to get that...
