WASHINGTON — Republicans were on track for a slim House majority six days after the last polls closed in the midterm elections — as President Biden acknowledged Monday that his fellow Democrats were unlikely to pull off a miraculous hold.
“I think we’re going to get very close in the House, but I don’t — I think it’s gonna be very close, but I don’t think we’re going to make it,” Biden told reporters following a news conference in Bali, Indonesia.
As of 12:30 p.m. Monday, Republicans had secured 212 seats while Democrats had 205, according to Reuters. Of the 18 races yet to be called, Republicans led in 10 of them while Democrats led in eight.
If no further lead changes take place, the GOP will have 222 House seats in the next Congress, the same number the Democrats had after the 2020 elections.

Pedo Joe finally figured out that the democrats got their butts kicked on election day?
shocking.
Butts kicked?it was gop that got whooped. Biden just surprised they didn’t complete the cheat for the house. I’m sure he was assured they had it in the bag
What are you smoking?
There’s no way democrats will allow us to have the House...
Apparently, a big bong of denial.
Well good, we get two more years to keep our firearms at least.
Of course, they’ll pack the SCOTUS now that Manchin cannot stop them from changing the Filibuster, so that’s not good.
LOL!
You're a funny guy!
Yeah, first thing the Cali Rs will do is take an unfortunate chartered plane to DC and...oops!
I hope the GOP turns down any invitations for congressional softball games.
If that decrepit mummy was allowed to say this then the uniparty has probably deemed it so. Just close enough to keep the normies saying “dang, maybe next time!”
the democrats only had a three seat majority in the house and the senate was 50-50.
there wasn’t much room to make big gains in a country that is fairly evenly split 50-50
It’s not like we were down 40 seats in the house and 5 in the senate, so it was unrealistic to assume we would do much better than we did. Oz was a weak candidate, and with a better candidate there we would of grabbed the house and senate instead of just the house.
We will most likely end up with a house majority at least at great as Democrats have had for the last two years.
Actually, the Kabuki theater that is American politics loves a divided government. They can point fingers at each other and maintain status quo of corruption and stagnation. Whackjobs like AOC are just as much a threat to that as MAGA.
The Democrats had a House majority with control of the Senate and a Democrat president.
We'll be lucky to get 219, particularly because it looks like Boebert's slim victory will be challenged.
We'll be a car crash or a heart attack away from losing the House.
And how many statehouses did we lose?
In case you missed it, with a historically unpopular president and sky high inflation and fuel costs, not to mention the anger over Covid tyranny and high crime, this was supposed to be a red wave election.
Instead, it was a catastrophe.
It’s better if they have some Republicans to keep around, just to blame and play lets pretend with. If Joe says it, believe it.
How nice of the dems allowing us to have the house.
Not a chance.
Why would Manchin go from one of the most powerful Senators in Washington to joining a party of losers?
At any rate, he retires in '24 and his seat will almost certainly go red, (unless Republicans find a way to blow it by letting Trump pick the candidate, which they might easily do).
RE: Kabuki theater
Too bad Joe and Nancy and others aren’t genuinely concerned about Dems losing the House.

Often called “hara-kiri” in the West, “seppuku” is a form of ritual suicide that originated with Japan’s ancient samurai warrior class. The grisly act typically involved stabbing oneself in the belly with a short sword, slicing open the stomach and then turning the blade upwards to ensure a fatal wound.
About author Yukio Mishima——
Japan’s most famous writer committed suicide after a failed coup attempt.
From BBC website:
Standing on a balcony, as if on stage, the small, immaculate figure appeals to the army assembled below. The figure is Yukio Mishima, real name Kimitake Hiraoka. He was Japan’s most famous living novelist when, on 25 November 1970, he went to an army base in Tokyo, kidnapped the commander, had him assemble the garrison, then tried to start a coup. He railed against the US-backed state and constitution, berated the soldiers for their submissiveness and challenged them to return the Emperor to his pre-war position as living god and national leader. The audience, at first politely quiet, or just stunned into silence, soon drowned him out with jeers. Mishima stepped back inside and said: “I don’t think they heard me.” Then he knelt down and killed himself by seppuku, the Samurai’s ritual suicide.

I learned in high school when your cheating on a test you never run the table to get 100% correct.........it’s a dead giveaway. 😏
