Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, an auto shop owner who was a virtual unknown before August’s primary election, pulled off perhaps the most stunning political upset in the country this year, winning a congressional seat in Southwest Washington that few saw as competitive.

Gluesenkamp Perez, a Democrat, defeated Donald Trump-endorsed Republican Joe Kent on Saturday in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, with roughly 50.5% of the vote.

If MAGAs won’t vote for GOPe candidates

We do all the time and it is soul crushing. OTH the RINOS are rich and can afford to sit out elections. They will be rich regardless. Politics is like a sport or hobby for them. For us prols, it may mean everything, a bad economy can wreck us permanently.

If MAGAs won’t vote for GOPe candidates then why should GOPers vote for MAGAs?

We USED to vote for GOPe, but GOPe NEVER voted for MAGA or its predecessors. Half of the votes for John B. Anderson in '80 came from Republicans who thought Reagan was too extreme. Folks like us held our noses and voted for Bushes, Dole, McCain, and even Romney (well not all of us on Romney). Our votes were taken for granted.

GOPe mostly won't hold their nose and vote MAGA, and the time has come to purge them from the party, and let them join the Democrats. In return, we can make a better pitch for Lunchpail Democrats who also have been ignored. That will more than make up the voter difference, if not the financial difference.

For us prols, voting may mean everything, a bad economy or corrupt Deep State pol can wreck us permanently. Our freedom is at stake and for a lot of us that is all we have.

George W Bush was a hero here on FR. Yoi want me to give you a list of GOPe heroes here like Ann Coulter,Karl Rove,, Dick Cheney. You’d get zotted for even mild criticism. Hell you’d get flamed for even mentioning Coulter if you failed to post a pic. And Rove wasn’t Rove. He was “Rove ! You magnificent bastard!!” So don’t go saying how we held our noses when we voted for them

You are right about W and Cheney. In part because they had the right enemies. Not so much about George the Elder, Dole, McCain and Romney. Coulter turned at some point. Rove had people fooled because they thought he was just nuts and bolts. At that level, they are NEVER all nuts and bolts.

If Reagan’s speeches, policies, willingness to work with Tip O’Neill were common knowledge today he would be treated here like the Dems would treat JFK.

The establishment won’t vote for or help the populists (MAGA). Similarly, the populists should never help or vote for the GOPee.

The GOPee did the same thing in Michigan CD3 - they bayoneted the Trump guy who gave Pete Meijer the bum's rush.

The greatest thing about President Trump is how he gets ALL these piles of dogsqueezins to reveal themselves.

[Trump had a very large success rate of turning out RINOs
during the primaries.]

Name the ones who replaced incumbent Republicans in non-red states *and* won in the general. Joe Kent (WA) lost. Doug Mastriano (PA) lost. Mehmet Oz (PA) lost. Don Bolduc (NH) lost. Blake Masters (AZ) lost. Kari Lake (AZ) lost. Trump tried screwing around in AL with low energy Mo Brooks (AL), who might have lost, and finally gave up and endorsed RINO Katie Britt (AL), who won. Fact is his endorsements help win nominations because he has a small following in the GOP who will vote for anyone he approves of. But most GOP voters disagree with him, which is why none of his picks got more than 50% in the primaries.

Re: The district was deep Red.

In 2018, Jaime Herrera Beutler (R), who is half Mexican, won by just 6%.

Jaime Herrera Beutler (R) faced the same opponent in 2020 and beat her by 13%.

In 2022, MAGA Joe Kent beat Beutler by just 0.5% (1,000 votes) in the Jungle Primary.

Nobody wants to hear your facts. They are still not tired of losing, they are already trying to lose again in 2024.
