Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said Friday he believes the Senate leadership vote should be postponed until the candidates for the position are vetted for “genuine [commitment] to fighting for the priorities & values of the working Americans.”

“The Senate GOP leadership vote next week should be postponed,” Rubio tweeted. “First we need to make sure that those who want to lead us are genuinely committed to fighting for the priorities & values of the working Americans (of every background) who gave us big wins in states like Florida.”

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) backed Rubio’s idea and criticized leadership for wanting to hold a vote before the Senate races were completed.

DUMP MCCONNELL! Vote Mike Lee or Marco Rubio. Contact your Senators, please to ask them to vote for someone else other than Mitch McConnell!

Delay is GOOD. Let things “percolate” for a bit and some discussions be held.

At least wait until the run off election in GA.

but yeah, this is the GOP pushing to keep it all in place. Rush it through just like they do with spending bills.

I don’t trust Rubio. I also don’t understand how a vote for Senate leader would occur during the old Senate. That is crooked.

Assuming this isn’t just for show, which it probably is, Rubio is probably serving as the proxy voice for Rick Scott, also from Florida, who last I hears was the only serious contender to McConnell.

Let’s hope Scott, or someone else, prevails in the end, but typically a position like this is based on the ability to raise money, which is why Scott would be the likely replacement.

Anyone who votes for McConnell is the opposition. No excuses. I don’t care if 99% vote for him. They should all go.

The vote would be among Republican Senators carrying over from the old Congress and newly elected Republican Senators. I would think that they’d have to wait long enough for the Arizona, Nevada and Alaska US Senator election winners to have been determined.

Marco Rubio is a non-starter > IMO.

He’s just not that trustworthy.

McConnell is the chief architect of the ‘dispute’ between Trump and DeSantis. They are trying to prevent Trump from declaring and if he does not, they will destroy DeSantis. Old plan throughout history - divide and conquer. Trump is wise to resist McConnell’s BS (who is owned by Fox News). McConnell is the fly in the soup and always has been.

If Moocowski wins again, she and/or Pierre Delecto will offset any 51-49 majority the GOP may get. Thanks for nothing, McTurtle.
